Michigan Tuesday: Injuries, Head Coach, QB2, JJ, and More!

Always plenty to discuss after a Michigan loss but usually one of the concerns is not, who will coach the team the next two weeks?  Thus, this is Michigan Football 2025.

Let's just get to the news shall we:
  • Biff is the Michigan head coach for the next two weeks.  My guess is this was the plan all along and one of the reasons he came back to Ann Arbor.  This allows Biff to coach the game and the Coordinators to coach their groups.  Great decision!
  • Rod Moore has a very good chance of playing this weekend.  Yes, Please
  • Klein is getting better
  • El-Hadi is day to day and it doesn't sound like a serious injury
  • Same with Berry
  • Sherrone also confirms he doesn't have a solid QB2.  When asked if he would like to see Bryce run more, his answer consisted of: Yes, but you better have a second QB ready if your going to do that.  A moment of honesty from a head coach in a press conference is refreshing.
  • I have been disappointed we have not seen the true freshman CB Earls.  He showed up on the injury report this week.  Some rumors are he got injured warming up for the New Mexico game.
  • Orji is out for the season at UNLV, he tore his hamstring on his only carry last weekend.
  • JJ started his NFL career rough last night, including a bad pick 6 to start the 2nd half.  Then rallies like the gamer he is and wins the game in the 4th.
  • Loveland also made his first NFL start and had 2 catches for 12 total yards for the Bears.
  • Nebraska game will be a 3:30 kick.  MSU - USC will be a 11:00 PM kick that weekend.
  • Bonus stat from the NFL:  J.J. McCarthy is the first starting QB with a 10+ point 4th quarter comeback in his NFL debut since Steve Young in 1985. He is the only such QB since 1950 to do so on the road

Michigan Monday: Too Early Look at The Chips

Michigan finally gets back to playing football in the daylight as the Central Michigan Chippewas travel south to Ann Arbor for a match up with the 23rd ranked Michigan Wolverines.   Both teams are 1-1 coming into this battle of instate teams.

Central Michigan (1-1)

Last week: loss to Pitt 45-17
Win: San Jose State 16-14

Pass: 146 yards per (118th)
Run: 138 yards per (89th)
Score: 16.5 per game (117th)
Give up: 29.5 per game (108th)

Next Game after Michigan: Wagner Power Painters in Mt. Pleasant.

Central has a new coaching staff as its assumed the last coaching staff invited Connor Stalions on their sideline, but nobody knows if or how Connor got there. The NCAA believes the fix is in and Central's leadership let the Shark Hugger go after last season.  Saturday is  the 3rd straight road game for the Chips as they are stacking dollar bills as the MAC season approaches.

Michigan is a 27.5 favorite
Kickoff is Noon
TV: BTN
Big mystery is: Who will be Michigan's head coach on Saturday?
  • Moody is struggling with SF after making 70% of his field goals last year.  I would not be surprised if he gets cut this week.
  • Nice to see Will Johnson back healthy and starting for the Cardinals.  Strange they played Vandy yesterday.
  • JJ makes his first NFL career start tonight
  • Someone is going to sign Jabrill this week right?
  • Former Michigan QB Update: Orji has lost the QB starter role at UNLV to Anthony Colandrea, Alex had 1 carry for 1 yard in the upset win over UCLA.  Cade is sharing time with Jacolby Criswell at ETSU.  They got boat races by Tennessee last week but beat Murray State Week 1.  In a surprise, Jayden Denegal is the starter for San Diego State and is completing 50% of his passes and is also 1-1.

Michigan Friday: Meet Your 2025 Captains

That's a strong list of leaders! Don't forget Tom Brady said, his greatest football honor was being named a Captain at the University of Michigan.

  • Max Bredeson is mentoring Bryce Underwood and asked to be his camp roommate.
  • How did CJ Carr get the start for ND?  Per sources and Chris Hummer: "He's got the moxie. He's got the leadership. He's got that 'it' factor."
  • Pat Fitzgerald and Northwestern have come to a settlement on his dismissal. I'm shocked he is not working anywhere.
  • Hawaii Football will log nearly 30,000 air miles this season.
  • DPJ was released by the Saints after trading for Vele.
  • One sleep before Week 0 of College Football! A ranked Big 12 game!
Did you know? That Iowa Football shared the National Championship in 1958?

Iowa has long laid claim to the 1958 national championship. The Hawkeyes were recognized as national champions by the Football Writers Association of America after leading the nation in total offense. The Hawkeyes' 8-1-1 (5-1 Big Ten) campaign ended with a 38-12 Rose Bowl victory over Cal and garnered the No. 2 spot in the final Associated Press poll.

Iowa leading the nation in offense is just crazy.  The AP voted LSU National Champs that year.  With all that said, Auburn has now taken the National Championship that year for themselves.  😃

Michigan Thursday: Orji Update

I like Alex Orji but he is not a QB.  I don't know if he can catch but he would be a great TE or even a RB.  If I was an opposing team, I would think Orji was a beast coming off the bus.

As you know, Alex decided to transfer to UNLV this off season and continue to improve the turnaround program with new head coach (who was a Michigan candidate at one point) Dan Mullen in his first year in Vegas.

Mullen announced that Alex will share time at QB with UVA transfer Anthony Colandrea during their first game this weekend against Idaho State.

“They have similarities, but they have differences in their games,” Mullen said on "McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning" (h/t On3). “Both guys will play in Game 1 for us, for sure. It’s a long season. But I want to make sure on gameday that what I see in practice, they can do on the field in a game and see how people respond to that.”

  • Bryce has a new deal with Beats.  They really need to sell those custom Michigan Beats! Yes, he gifted a pair to each player.
  • Former Michigan TE Luke Schoonmaker is in concussion protocol.
  • This is your yearly reminder that nobody cares what Urban Meyer says about anything or anybody. I wish he would just go coach Idaho State.
  • Detroit Cass Tech 2028 WR Mylan Griggs will visit for the opener.

Michigan Monday: Punting Around a Few Ideas

One of the issues this off season is/was Michigan's Punting situation.  Now, you may think that isn't an important role or Michigan should be more concerned in other areas.  Maybe, but special teams can be the difference in wins and loses and when you have a borderline elite defense and a freshman QB, Special Teams are even more important.

Michigan this off season reportedly, brought in a punter from Missouri named Luke Bauer after Tommy Doman Jr. transferred to Florida.   Well, it's unclear if Luke ever made it to Ann Arbor or not.

So now the news breaks, Michigan has added a punter from Clarion University named Hunter Robertson.  Hunter averaged 43 yards per punt and also has kick off and place kicking experience.  Hunter is from Michigan and grew up in Oakland County.

For those wondering, Clarion is located in Pennsylvania and is a D2 football school.

In a strange twist it looks like it will be a Hunter vs. Hunter Punter Battle in camp for the starting position as Hudson Hollenbeck handled the punting duties in Michigan's Bowl win over Alabama, while Hunter Robertson is just coming in.

Who will be Hunter the Punter?  I think the Big Ten Network has reality show just waiting to be shot here!  😀

  • Josh Metellus got an extension from the Vikings over the weekend.  Much deserved and he ended up being a very good NFL Player.
  • With Big Ten Media days over, now its time to focus on camp and getting better every day!
  • The Cardinals lose starting cornerback Starling Thomas to a torn ACL, looks like Will Johnson will be CB1 if he is healthy.
  • Rod Moore is back to wearing #19

Michigan Tuesday: Continues to Look For Content

This type of year there is not a ton of news to report.   So you do the best to find things your readers might want to know.   Today wasn't my best.  😀

  • Dusty on Yaxel: "Someone who we felt was the most productive, best player in the Portal. ... He raises our ceiling exponentially"
  • The Jax Jags are hiring MSU executive senior associate athletic director and assistant general counsel Jon Dykema who also worked for the Detroit Lions.
  • 3-star safety Jordan Deck rescheduled his Michigan official visit from May 30th to June 6th
  • 4-star DT Deuce Geralds has scheduled an official visit to Michigan for June 18th-19th
  • Legacy recruit Marquis Ray (son of Markus) was named the Defensive MVP at Michigan's Camp
  • In news you might not expect: Former Wolverine Receiver Nate Schoenle is entering the Seminary

Michigan Tuesday: Yaxel Decision Days

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Yaxel Lendeborg is a 6-foot-9 UAB Forward that has transferred to U of M. He is also considering entering the NBA Draft. He has until Wednesday night at 11:59 to remove his name from the NBA Draft. Yaxel is considered the best player in the portal but still seems to be torn between the Draft and Ann Arbor.

After a strong showing at the combine.  It sounds like his stock projection is anywhere from the mid-20's of the first round to early 2nd.   He is looking for a team to confirm that they will take him and he will have a guaranteed contract.

On the other hand, if Yaxel comes to Ann Arbor he could be one of the best players in college basketball and maybe a lottery pick after next season.   I'm sure he also has a nice NIL deal lined up.   A great comp could be in football with Cam Ward.

Insiders are torn 50/50 on this one and we will find out soon!

Update 11:20: Yaxel is heading to Ann Arbor!!

  • Michigan Football got another TE commit prior to the holiday when Mason Bonner a 3 star TE committed to the Wolverines.   Welcome Mason!
  • Speaking of Michigan Mason's:  Mason Graham has signed his $40M contract with the Cleveland Browns.
  • Michigan is trying to flip LSU CB commit Havon Finney, Jr
  • The CFP is now going to use a proper seeding method so it doesn't have the mess it created last season.

Michigan Thursday: 2K Days

The guys that track the number of days Michigan hasn't lost to Ohio State make me smile.  Today marks 2000 days since the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines.  That is a long time and also great time.  After the 10 years the Wolverines went through, this has been a wonderful change.   Go Blue!

  • Keeping the number of days theme:  100 Days until Michigan Football!
  • Michael Barrett has signed with the Raiders.  I really see his future to be in  Ann Arbor as a LB coach.
  • Speaking of assistant coaches, Sherrone promoted one guy and extended others.  Here are the details:
    • Steve Casula got promoted to Co-OC and got a raise to $500K
    • Tony Alford got a new 3-year deal and a $50K raise to $900K
    • Lou Esposito got a $100K raise to $600K
    • Ron Bellamy, LaMar Morgan, and Grant Newsome all got extended through 2026 without a raise.
  • Michigan continues to be on commit watch with a new 👀 from coach.
  • RIP to Jim Irsay (Thank you for hosting the Wolverines Big Ten Championships!)

Michigan Friday: Woodson Becomes a Particle NFL Owner

The top two stars out of Michigan's program Tom Brady and Charles Woodson have both done very well off the field.  Netflix paid Brady $25M for an afternoon of comedians making fun of him and Woodson has done well in the alcohol business.   Both get paid nicely from Fox.

Brady picked up a share of Raiders this past year and now Woodson has picked up a small percentage of the Cleveland Browns.  Neither one these franchises would have been my first choice for investments but when it come to the NFL and a franchise, they only go up in value, no matter how they are run.

Best of luck to both of them and their investment!

Wolverine Wednesday: Updates Stuff

  • Josaiah Stewart came to Michigan from Coastal Carolina to make it to the NFL.  Yesterday that dream came true as he signed his contract with the LA Rams.
  • Dominic Zvada is not only the best kicker in college football, he is now doing commercials for the PGA Superstore in Novi.
  • Circa Sports estimates Michigan Big Ten over/under wins at 8 1/2.  I hate those half wins.
  • Wolverine Rich Eisen is heading back to ESPN where it started for him.  His show the Rich Eisen show will be on ESPN as talks continue for NFL Network to be acquired by ESPN.
  • Cantwell went to Miami
  • Yaxel is impressing at the combine.  😞

Michigan Tuesday: News and Notes

  •  DPJ has signed with the Saints, sad it didn't work out with the Lions
  • Ja'Den McBurrows has signed with App State
  • #1 Recruit in the country Jackson Cantwell who was high on Michigan early will make his college decision today between Georgia, Oregon, and Miami.  Highest bidder wins!
  • JJ will play games in back-to-back weeks in Dublin and London.
  • The Don has made an early impression at Jets camp and if he is going to make the team it will be in the passing game and on special teams.  Passing game? Wish I had thought of that.
  • The current NBA combine is huge for Michigan Basketball and whether Yaxel stays in the draft or heads to A2.

Michigan Monday: Santa to the South Pole?

Michigan President Santa Ono after a short 3 years stint in Ann Arbor has decided to take his talents to the University of Florida.  For Michigan Football and Basketball fans, Santa was a guy we had all hoped would change Michigan's NIL policy and admissions restrictions.   He did make some progress even though the Harbaugh negotiations seemed strange and disjointed at times.  I'm not close to the situation to understand what happened, but John U. Bacon is and he said this on Twitter:

This is a surprise - but maybe it shouldn't be. I can't recall any UM president starting higher, nor falling faster. I'm not hearing from anyone who regrets his leaving - and his resignation letter seems rather insincere, given his abrupt departure. He leaves as a footnote.

Ono seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and his public enthusiasm for UM/Ann Arbor was received as a breath of fresh air after Schlissel. But Ono quickly seemed overwhelmed by the scale of the job, the conflicts that come with it, and an unusually tumultuous era.

I've since heard from insiders that now-former Michigan President Ono had pursued Oxford and Harvard -and didn't get close on either - but was pursued by U-Florida in October. Offer was too low, but when they upped in January, he interviewed. A surprise to Regents.

There you have it.

So I finally watched the Spring Game.  Nothing like giving insights into a game that was played two weeks ago, I know.

  • I liked the active role Biff was playing.  He was on the field with Sherrone.  He is going to be a great help to the program and Sherrone.
  • Michigan will have the best RB room in the country.
  • I like the different formations that Chip was running on offense.
  • Bryce is very talented and raw, needs more time and live game situations.  Still very good for a true freshman.
  • Davis windup is really bad.  He does well on short timing throws but him dropping the ball down at his waist is really bad.
  • I think the defense is going to be really good next year.  I might have been wrong about Wink.
  • #13 the IU transfer is going to be a star in Ann Arbor, best WR by far.
  • TE room might be sneaky good.  Hoffman had a really good game.  I hope he sees some time.
------
  • Former Wolverines: Vlad, Wolfe and maybe a future Wolverine Yaxel invited to the NBA Combine.
  • Michigan Baseball beat Ohio State 23-1 on Saturday
  • Giles Jackson signed with the Eagles
  • Devin Bush was arrested on Sunday on assault charges.

Michigan Thursday: Dax Has His Extension Picked Up

Dax Hill has always been a good football player.   A 5-star out of high school to Michigan's secondary, now with the Cincinnati Bengals.  After being injured last season, the Bengals just picked up his extension and Dax will be in the Queen City for the next two seasons.  “I’m glad they did it. Another year I’m here. I love the city. It’s good to be here another year,” Hill said, via the team’s website. “Prove myself a little bit more. I feel like I haven’t really done much. Obviously, I’ve done a little bit of everything, but just really hit on the ceiling that I want. I felt like I haven’t really reached that. I’m on the way to that and striving to get there.”

  • Former Michigan WR/CB Amorion Walker has transferred to Middle Tennessee State, best of luck to him.
  • Former Michigan defensive lineman Kechaun Bennett has signed with UCLA.
  • Former Michigan WR Karmello English is still in the portal.  He played last year at West Georgia and was productive.  He has visited Wisconsin and other schools.
  • 4-star RB Javian Osborne who is down to Michigan and ND is expected to pick the Fighting Irish this weekend.
  • This isn't a great list to be first on but Donovan Edwards has been ranked by CBS Sports as the top undrafted free agent.

Michigan Monday: A Busy Weekend

Let's get to the draft first.

Will did finally go to the Cardinals in the 2nd Round.  At least he is going somewhere warm.  I was 3 short on my prediction of 10 drafted Wolverines.  Here is a full list with the UDFA signings.

  1. Mason Graham to Cleveland
  2. Big Kenny Grant to Miami
  3. Colston Loveland to Chicago
  4. Will Johnson to Phoenix  (Round 2)
  5. Josaiah Stewart to LA Rams (Round 2)
  6. Kalel Mullins to Tennessee (Round 6)
  7. Myles Hinton to Philly (Round 6)
UDFA:
  • Donovan Edwards to the Jets
  • Makari Paige to the Giants
  • Josh Priebe to Miami
  • William Wagner to Cincy
  • AJ Henning to Miami (former Wolverine)
Congratulations to all the former Wolverines that found homes in the NFL this weekend.  Nice to have an NFL Owner with his name on Michigan's Business School!  Also Jim Harbaugh and Mike Macdonald drafted zero former Wolverines.

Not to be out done by the NFL Draft, Michigan landed 2 2026 commits including a QB.  For some reason Michigan seems to love the name "Brady" as a Michigan QB.  Brady Hart who was Michigan's 2026 QB decided to become at 2025 commit and headed to Texas A&M after Bryce committed to the Wolverines.  Now another Brady is headed to Ann Arbor:

4 Star QB Brady Smigel - A former FSU commit Brady is a 6'5 205 pound QB from California.  He always liked Michigan and started to get recruited by Chip Lindsey as soon as he took the job in Ann Arbor.  He is known as a pocket passer and a kid that can really spin it.  He is rated 4 stars to all the services and has a host of offers.  His top schools after leaving Florida State included South Carolina, Washington, and UCLA.

3 Star Tariq Boney is 6'3 230 pound edge rusher from DC.  Who quickly learned that Michigan Football is already crowned as DE U.  Boney Toney (too early?) offer list includes: Georgia, Wash, WVU, CAL, Tenn, Wisconsin, Penn State, BC, and others.

Welcome Brady and Tariq!

Michigan Friday: When Will He?

Michigan started out like a fireball in the NFL Draft last night.

🔥 Mason goes #5 to the Browns
🔥 Loveland goes #10 to the Bears
🔥 Big Kenny goes #13 to the Dolphins

Will must be soon after right?  A consensus top 10 pick before his injury last season.   The best CB in the Draft!

Will did not get drafted in round 1.  Insiders are reporting there is concern around a long term knee injury and that is the reason he wouldn't run the 40 for teams and privately the rumors were he was running in the 4.6 range.  That is the type of information (accurate or not) that drops a player from Day 1 to Day 2.  If not for Deion's kid also dropping out of Round 1, Will would have been the lead story of the night.

Will might have considered heading over to Lambo last night and running the 40 in his white suit.

I hope someone picks him early in Round 2.  If not, his medical is a real concern and not just a rumor.

Update: reports are that Colston Loveland was the "hot" player of the draft last night and that many teams wanted him.  The reason there wasn't any trades in the mid 1st round picks was because the Bears took Loveland at 10.

Tonight:
We of course expect Will to go tonight.   The only other Wolverine that is projected to go on Day 2 is Edge rusher Josaiah Stewart.

Saturday:
  • Donovan Edwards
  • Kalel Mullins
  • Myles Hinton
  • Josh Priebe
  • Makari Paige
My expectation is 10 Wolverines will get drafted

Enjoy the Weekend!

  • Today is the final day of the College Football Transfer Portal Window for players to enter the portal.  You can still sign players past today that are in the portal.
  • This was not a mystery but Roddy Gayle Jr. is returning to Michigan next season.
  • Yaxel is expected to visit Ann Arbor this weekend as he decides between Michigan Basketball and the NBA Draft.

Wolverine Wednesday: 2 Former Wolverines Make Two Different Career Moves

Mel Owens was an All Big Ten LB in Ann Arbor from 1977-1980 and was drafted in the top 10 by the LA Rams. After a 9 year career in the NFL he retired and became a lawyer.   He is now 66 and just became the next Golden Bachelor.  Personally, I can't stand the "Bachelor" shows but good luck to Mel.  Let's not forget former Michigan DB J’Marick Woods is starring in "Farmer Needs a Wife".  That seems like a unique trend for former Michigan defenders.

Now for news for the 2nd former Wolverine.  Jay Feely is running for Congress in Arizona.   So there you go.

  • Every Mock Draft I've seen has Mason Graham #5 to JAX Jags.  Now it seems they might go RB Ashton Jeanty from Boise State.  We will see tomorrow.
  • Many of us like Movies and lately I've been watching the Oscar Nominated Best Films from last year.  My response is WTF?  Anora the film that won Best Picture was a mix of a Cinemax at Night and a bad Netflix film, IMO it had zero business being nominated and it won best picture.  I watched the Brutalist last night and watching it for over 200 minutes was Brutal.  It was very dry and boring.  Acting was strong but the story line dragged.   Substance I watched on a plane and a crazy over the top movie.  I just kept thinking, I sure hope a kid is not watching this over my shoulder as Demi Moore jumps out of a younger body.  Bad choice by me.  Lastly, my pick for Best Picture from all the nominations is Conclave, not only is it interesting its very timely with the Pope passing this weekend.

Michigan Tuesday: Lots of New Faces in New Places

  • Michigan picked up a Princeton RB in John Volker in the portal.  I expect John to be coming to Michigan to play School and Football.  The RB room has gotten much deeper since Friday.
  • Former Michigan RB Ben Hall is heading to UNC who is losing players left and right in the portal.  Adam Samaha who left Michigan for UNC is back in the portal.
  • Former Michigan DL Aymeric Koumba is heading to UCF in Orlando to play for Scott Frost who will out hit ya!
  • Kody Jones who left Michigan in January for Memphis is back in the portal.
  • I really liked Karmello English a WR from Alabama when he was a Wolverine.  I thought he was talented and could be a future star.  He jumped in the portal last season and had trouble finding a home.  He went to West Georgia and had 49 catches for 704 yards and 2 TD's.  He is now back in the portal and visiting Wisconsin.
  • Michigan Basketball got expected good news that Nimari Burnett is staying for his last year of college basketball eligibility in Ann Arbor.
  • Athlete Dillon Tatum from West Bloomfield strangely picked Michigan State over Michigan and played CB for the Spartans last season.  He has now jumped into the portal.  Not sure what the interest is on either side.
  • Michigan was looking at CB Emmanuel Karnley who played at Arizona and Miami is back in the portal.
  • QB Mikey Keene has no doubt he will be ready for Fall Camp and sounds like he is staying in Ann Arbor for this season.  "If it's me, if it's Bryce, if it's Jadyn, if it's Davis, we're all in this together to ultimately play the most beneficial role that we can to helping this team win."
  • Today is the last day for transfer portal entry for basketball.
  • Nice to see the Pistons win a playoff game!

Michigan Friday: Trey to South Beach

Trey Donaldson came to a program that needed a big lift last year.  He was part of Michigan's rebuild this season and next year he will take on another rebuild.  Trey is heading to Miami to rebuild that program that was in the Final 4 a couple years ago and coach left mid-season.  Good Luck to him!

  • CAL Football top NIL spender is holding their money until they put GM Ron Rivera in charge of the entire program.
  • There continues to be buzz that Michigan might be looking for another QB in the portal.  Keene's injury is a mystery that needs solving.
  • Joe Milton got traded to the Cowboys.   Joe's arm and structure continues to be loved by football scouts.
  • Ronnie Bell will wear #10 for the Lions
  • Tom Brady bringing Geno to the Raiders and then giving him an extension is complexing to me.

Michigan Thursday: Time For The Offensive Line To Get Better

For about a 10 year period Michigan had a poor to average offensive line.  Jim Harbaugh changed that and solidified both the offensive and defensive through recruiting, development, coaching, and the transfer portal.   The gains the offensive line made got Sherrone the head coaching job at Michigan.   That is the highest of honors.

Last year, the offensive line took a step back, maybe two steps back.  They struggled with the run game and struggled in Pass Pro (outside their last two games).   Yes, it was nice to see the line improve but they were below average to start the year.   So changes had to be made this spring.

What we are hearing:
  • El-Hadi who last year moved from Left Guard to Right Guard, is moving back to Left where he feels more comfortable. "Yeah, I'm playing left guard. Moving back to the left," El-Hadi said. "It's going good. Yeah, it's going really good. I feel a little bit more natural on the left. I played my first two years on the left side. Last year, (Josh Priebe) came back. When the Priebe came, they moved me to the right to change positions. Then I asked to go back to the left. It's going good."
  • Transfer Brady Norton is making some noise for a starting position in Spring Ball.  He is now up to close to 300 pounds and impressing the coaches.  Norton has been practicing at Guard and Tackle.  He has 3 years of eligibility left!
  • Junior Nathan Efobi is one of those guys that has been in the program and is ready to take the next step.  There were plenty of transfer rumors about him leaving, but the coaches got him to stay and could be the starter at Right Guard. Efobi has played 2 game snaps his entire career.
  • Don't forget Larry Hatter the transfer from Big Rapids is not due to join the team until this summer.  He goes by Lawrence but I like Larry.
News and Notes:
  • Bills signed former Michigan punter Brad Robbins
  • MSU Football is now under NCAA Investigation for it's time under Mel Tucker.  The NCAA does not comment on current investigations unless its against Michigan and Jim Harbaugh.
  • Here is something I didn't remember, current Michigan WR Donaven McCulley who just transferred from IU. Started at QB for IU against Michigan in the Big House is 2021. To repeat started at QB. That is just crazy.
  • Chip Lindsey new offensive is expected to be fast paced. Harbaugh loved ball control and running the clock, but I also believe there were times Michigan could have moved much faster on offense.

Wolverine Wednesday: If Your Keeping Score at Home

NCAA Basketball has become one and done which usually was reserved for talent like Cooper (don't call Kupp) Flagg.  Now its a transfer portal thing and it's hard to know who is and isn't on your team.

We have to add another name to the Best of Luck list:
  • PG Trey Donaldson - who I expected to jump into the portal when Michigan signed the 5 star UNC point guard Elliot Cadeau.  Trey had an up and down year for the Wolverines.  At the end of the day he had too many turnovers and not enough assist.
We add another to the Welcome to the Team list:
  • Illinois Freshman F Morez Johnson who averaged 7 points and nearly 7 boards with 1 block a game.  Johnson is 6'9 and is a mid-range shooter.  He did not attempt a 3 this year.

Maggon Gwath the prized center from SDSU is staying in San Diego and was a Michigan portal prospect.  This is the 2nd big man (Iowa Center) Michigan has missed in the portal.  Johnson above is expected to play more power forward then center next season.

  • Former Michigan WR Tyler Morris has hurt his knee and is out for the year for IU.
  • Buzz Williams is trying to coach at every Division 1 school and took the Maryland job.
  • RIP Val Kilmer, AKA Iceman
