Charles Rogers and Peter Warrick on the same team?

Rewind about 5 or 6 years ago, which NFL team wouldn't wanted the combo receiver core of Charles Rogers and Peter Warrick? Both high #1 draft picks for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals respectfully.

Both had very good college careers, I can remember watching the Sugar Bowl, when Peter turned to his Florida State team-mates and said, "Are you ready for me to end this?". Meaning he was about to finish the game against Virgina Tech with a long touchdown. That's exactly what he did.

Charles was a very athletic receiver from Michigan State that sort of had and up and down career at MSU, but did win the 2002 Biletnikoff Award. His size and speed had NFL scouts drooling and Charles became the 2nd pick in the draft by the offense hungry Detroit Lions.

Boy times have changed, Peter is now 30 and after getting cut by Bengals and the Seahawks is now looking for work. Charles who got cut by Detroit after continuing to use drugs is in a very expensive court battle with the Lions over $10 million of his $14M signing bonus. Neither player has seen a football field since 2006.

But there is a chance they could play again and play together for the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. You might remember the Alouettes gave Lawrence Phillips a second chance at football as well. Peter is in the Alouettes training camp complaining he should have won the Heisman and was a good receiver in the NFL. Charles verbally agreed to a contract but has not contacted the team in a couple of weeks and hasn't shown for the camp yet.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Good luck boys at your last chance at football glory.
