- Zach Martin Offensive Tackle and the #1 recruit out of the state of Indiana picked ND last night over Michigan and a host of other schools. "I just knew I was going to Notre Dame and I didn't want to lead anyone on anymore," Martin said when asked why he chose the Irish without taking the scheduled Michigan visit. "I just knew where I wanted to go, so I thought I shouldn't drag it on any longer." This is a large blow to Michigan recruiting efforts in this class, Zach had visited Michigan and seemed to be a Wolverine lean. Looks like the local in-state team won in the end. Michigan continues to need OL, DT, and DE out of this class.
- Former Wolverine QB Clayton Richard now in AAA with the White Sox's and was also selected to the US Olympics team. Seems baseball was the right route for Clayton.
- Another QB? Michigan looking at South Carolina QB: South Pointe’s Stephon Gilmore is the highest-ranked quarterback in this class, but he is projected as a defensive back in college. Among his numerous offers, Michigan is the only one that wants him to play quarterback. Gilmore said he is more than willing to take whatever the defense gives him. “Being able to run opens up so many things,” he said. “Whenever you are able to beat teams with your feet, that’s just another thing they have to worry about.” Stephon is 6-1, 180 and passed for over 1,500 yards and ran for over 1,000 yards last season .
