No ESPY for App. State and Late Week Recruiting Update

Been pretty slow lately on the recruiting trail but here are a few updates:

  • Michigan recruit is at Florida's camp this weekend: Fleming Island offensive tackle Ian Silberman, a junior who figures to be one of the state's most coveted targets in 2009. He already has offers from UF, Miami and Michigan and will work out tonight to help further build his reputation. "I'm excited," Silberman said. "It's not like the excitement you get to play a game, but I think players need to be there so the coaches can see where you're at. Plus, you get to go up against strong competition, and that's really helpful."
  • I didn't know that Zach Martin was considering UK did you? Zach Martin, a 6-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Indianapolis' Bishop Chatard High, is listed as a four-star recruit and the 18th-best tackle in the nation by Rivals.com. Martin is the son of Keith Martin, who played at UK from 1981-83 and was a teammate of offensive coordinator Joker Phillips.Martin lists UK as one of his favorites along with Michigan, Notre Dame, Virginia, Illinois and Purdue.
  • Southern recruit likes Michigan (but parents prefer Clemson), if we land this recruit we should send a T-Shirt to his elementary school teacher! DeDe Lattimore, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound three-star linebacker from Cedar Shoals High School likes the Wolverines. "My elementary school teacher was from Michigan and he's the one who got me into them," he said. "That's when I started watching them all the time and I love the colors and the stadium is like the biggest in the world," Lattimore said. "It's just looks like an amazing environment. I know it's cold there, but I think I'd get used to it." Lattimore is also excited about the new coaching staff. "I love the tradition at Michigan and they have some good new coaches that are really going to be changing things up," he said. "I like coach Rich Rodriguez and it really impressed me that he was one of the few head coaches (and UCF) that offered me himself. That meant a lot." Lattimore says the Wolverines lead slightly over Oklahoma State, Louisville, Central Florida, South Florida, and Clemson.
  • Update from yesterday's post: App. State doesn't win the ESPY for biggest upset (Giants over Tom Brady and Crew). Sorry guys, beat LSU this year and you will be a lock!!
