Michigan Monday: I love the Smell of a Win in the Morning

  • No Buckeye Report today: Buckeye John didn't catch the Toledo beat down. Let me break it down for you here: TP had a good day but still threw 2 picks, USC lost to a team that didn't have a win last year, Illinois is up next and even though they haven't played well this year they always play well against the Buckeyes. Buckeye nation continues to be sad at the USC loss and nervous about the Fighting illini and believe the OSU defense will be the difference.

  • Carlos "Santana" Brown is the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the week! with Northwestern QB Mike Kafka.

  • Michigan is now #23 in the AP and #22 in the Coaches

  • Michigan only had 2 penalties for 20 yards against EMU. The pass interference call on Boubacar was BS.

  • David Molk suffered a serious foot injury and it could be broken, which is not good for the offense line. Moosman and Khoury are the back ups.

  • RR was not happy at the timing of the Mouton suspension. He said they didn't find out until after practice on Thursday and didn't have time to have the back up participate with the first team.

  • Basketball Alert: 2011 point guard from Southfield, MI Carlton Brundidge has verbally committed to the Wolverines.

  • Tate has bruised ribs - nothing serious. He will be ready for this week against IU.

  • ESPN 2 will have the Michigan game this week at noon. Michigan is favored by 18 points.

BHB - It's true, I didn't catch the OSU-Toledo game. It won't happen again. I think your summary of the game was on target. One thing though....I think the average Buckeye fan is over the USC loss. I know I am. Losing on the national stage has as much as OSU has makes it a little easier to deal with. Reading recaps of the Toledo game (nice mix on offense and total domination by the defense) also helps. Additionally, I'm pretty confident OSU will win on Saturday. I think (actually pray) the coaching staff realizes how Pryor needs/wants to be used and they will continue with the same package of plays for him this week. We handled Juice last year in Champain-Urbana and I think that continues this week in Columbus. I have it 35-17 Buckeyes.

I was wrong Buckeye John did do a Buckeye Report today, it just showed up in a different location! :)

As I would agree with you that it doesn't do any good to hang on to a loss, I have a hard time believing the Buckeye Nation is not feeling lots of remorse for missing a huge opportunity to beat USC a week ago. If UW can do it, certainly the Buckeyes could have.

BHB - Buckeye Nation grieves after a loss, bitches about a blown call here and there, complains about play calling for a few days and then moves on to the next game.

Yes, USC is not playing at the same level they have for the past seveal years. We missed a chance....a great chance to win the game but couldn't get it done (It would have been nice if Taylor Mays and Matt Barkley had not made the trip to Columbus). The focus now is on the solid performance against Toledo and preparations for Illinois. Win this weekend and all will be forgotten.
