We saw some changing of the guard last Saturday in the Big Ten. Iowa knocked off Penn State in Happy Valley, Wisconsin beat MSU, Indiana showed up and lost a close one to the Wolverines, and The Vest does what he always does - plays strong defense and wins Big Ten games.
This week also has some interesting games.
Big Ten Game of the Week:
Wisconsin at Minnesota: This is one of the those "whose for real" games. Wisconsin beat MSU at home last week and The Golden Gophers went on the road to beat Northwestern. The Gophers love their new stadium and now welcome in rival Wisconsin. This is sort of the pre-game to the Farve Bowl on Monday night. I think Wisconsin might be more legit then Minnesota. Whisky is favored by 3 on the road. Wisconsin 24 Minnesota 14
North Arkansas vs Iowa: Is Northern Arkansas the school Ryan Mallett transferred to? No, ok then this will be an easy for Iowa after a small let down in the first half from the big win last week. Iowa is favored by 21.5: Iowa 31 N. Ark. 7
Ohio State at Indiana: The Buckeyes hit the road for the first time this year (The Cleveland Bowl against Toledo doesn't count). The Buckeye fans hope they remember to pack their defense, which will be with out one of it's starting DB's Kurt Coleman who has been suspended by the Big Ten for selling his famous camping equipment at tailgates this Fall. IU is coming off a good performance in the Big House and thinks they can play against the Buckeye's. I think TP might struggle for a quarter or so, but the OSU defense will be the big difference. IU is getting 17 points at home and I think it will be closer that that. OSU 24 IU 10
Penn State at Illinois: JoPa wasn't concerned with the loss as much has his concern with the turnovers. No word from Happy Valley if JoPa meant the loss of his TV remote or the game against Iowa. Zook and Juice are on a downward spiral and Penn State is too good to lay down after the Iowa loss. Penn State is the much better team in this one and is favored on the road by a touchdown. It won't be that close: JoPa 34 Zook 17
Northwestern at Purdue: At the beginning of the season I thought NW was easily the better team. After their loss to Minnesota at home and Purdue's last second loss to ND I think Danny Hope has given Purdue some hope this year. Purdue is a 7 point favorite in a place that will drive you crazy with it's movie sound bites, train whistle, big drum, and "Boiler up" chats after every first downs. Purdue 31 NW 28
As you all know by now: The Michigan - Michigan State Preview will be coming on Friday.
