Michigan Wednesday: Short Recruiting Blitz

The Michigan coaching staff has to worry about two things when it comes to recruiting this summer.

1) Will the signed 2010 class that is not already enrolled make it past the Michigan admission office and the NCAA Clearinghouse.  The rumor mill is saying there are at least 2 kids in the class that it will come down to their final grades.

2) Which recruits will fill out the small (under 20) 2011 class?

As far as #1 goes, the Michigan staff got good news recently when 4 Star safety recruit from Florida Marvin Robinson said he will be on campus on June 1st.  I'm sure the coaches continue to hold their breathe on 5 star CB Demar Doresey.

For #2 the next big event for 2011 recruits and prospects is the May 21st BBQ at the Big House.   For some of those recruits hoping to earn a Wolverine offer they will have to camp at Michigan this summer.

Here are some updates from the Recruiting Trail:

  • The reports that Anthony Zettel maybe leaning towards MSU are un-true.  Anthony still has Michigan leading in his recruitment with ND, MSU, and PSU.  He is one of those guys that could commit at the BBQ or wait until the season starts.

  • The word is that North Carolina athlete Kris Frost tore up a Nike Camp at Virgina Tech this past weekend and is planning a Michigan visit this summer.

  • Michigan has offered Florida Offensive Tackle Zach DeBell.

  • The Michigan basketball team will get to re-live it's NCAA Tournament game from a year ago when they go on the road to play Clemson in the Big Ten - ACC Challenge next year.

  • TomVH from Mgoblog says that Florida Linebacker Kent Turene will get a visit from Tony Dews this week.  Kent plays at the same high school as Demar Dorsey.
