Michigan Friday: Welcomes Kellen Jones to the Wolverines

Michigan got it's 9th verbal to the 2011 class yesterday with the commitment of Texas linebacker Kellen Jones.  Kellen made his first visit to Ann Arbor yesterday and that's all it took for a lifetime fan of the Wolverines to make a commitment.

Kellen is a four star LB on Scouts and 3 Stars on ESPN and Rivals. He is 6'1 and 210 pounds and a middle or inside LB in high school.   With some Barwis time, Michigan would love for him to stay in the middle or show his speed on the edge.  His offer list is pretty impressive which includes: Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Illinois, Houston, Kansas and KState, Stanford, Texas AM, and many more.

As you know, I am very serious about concussions and Kellen did receive a concussion during his sophomore year but played his junior year with out any problems.  Let's hope those issues are behind him.

Mgoblog does a great write up on Mr. Jones and his recruitment.  Here are some quotes from Kellen after he committed:

"Michigan is a family, and just seeing that really reinforced everything for me. It was really everything I was looking for. I prayed about my decision, and God told me Michigan was where I was supposed to be. I wanted to take this visit to clarify that, and it did."

"We were in Coach Rodriguez' office, and my family was in there with me. I told Coach that I was committing, and my whole family broke into the Michigan fight song. My Dad, Uncle, me, everybody was singing the fight song. Coach Rodriguez laughed and said he had never seen that before. He was shocked."
