Welcome to Game Day!

The countdown clock above reads 0 days and we have some news to pass on.

-Fitz is getting the start at tailback. I expect him and Shaw to get an even amount of snaps.

- JT Floyd gets the start at the other corner spot. We will see a lot of Avery as well, because I expect WWU to spread the field and try to move the ball through the air.

Sparty looked pretty poor last night, let's hope Michigan looks much better against a better opponent this afternoon.

Has anyone else noticed in the games on Thursday and Friday night that nobody seems to be able to make field goals or extra points?

Enjoy the day and Go Blue!

It really is the first two games of this season that will tell us a lot about what type of team we're going to have this year. Because of the disproportionate distribution of talent between Michigan and WMU, Michigan should win this one like a good one sided scrimmage. The Michigan of old would have annihilated them something like 48-3.

It's the ND game that will let us know how much this team is coming together. How will an experienced group of Michigan players with good coaching fare against a very good team with a season of "Kelly Ball" under its belt? Will the transition year curse hex them or will they play to their potential? Interesting question because Michigan “can” place an experienced man at every position, even if it’s a new position. The advantage is that they are familiar with game speed and the quality of play they will face all throughout this year. That is a major plus for any new coach.

In any case, I expect Michigan to play well but their weaknesses will be tested and most likely will be the reason if they fail. That means, in the quality of their overall special teams play, with an emphasis on their kicking game, and with catching punts and kick offs. Then you have to see their ability to protect the ball on offense, and can we create turn over’s on defense. And finally, can our defense show the maturity that it needs to make other teams respect how they play us.

Like I said, we will learn quite a lot from these first two games. You have to expect some growing pains starting out, but you should also see some growth as the season goes along. If not, it will be a very long season.

After spending the last three years in the Rodriguez Intensive Care Unit, here's to being encouraged during a year we find ourselves in the Hoke Rehab program. GO BLUE!!!

Very well said "Voice".

Those weaknesses you were talking about showed several times today. If we ever learn to cover a receiver and look back at the QB we will lead the league in interceptions, I counted 5 times today balls thrown from Carder zinged right pass one of our defenders, I mean if they looked back they would have hit them in the chest. Good coverage don't get me wrong just not complete coverage.
Kick off's and punts were good, just not enough speed down field to cover them, or our inablity to shed blockers....just saying
