Michigan Monday: Focus is on the Running Game

With Nuss hired now, Michigan can focus on a new hill to climb.   The hill that is right in front of them is National Signing Day which is really only a few weeks away.    Michigan needs to close strong and at the same time work on the 2015 class.   Getting a RB in both classes seems to be a top priority.

You might have heard over he weekend that 2014 RB Vic Enwere re-confirmed his commitment to CAL.   Which means the Wolverines are still looking for another RB in this class.   The top choice seems to be Minnesota "soft" commit and UA game MVP Jeff Jones who is planning to visit Ann Arbor the last weekend of January.

Coach Nuss and Singletary also reached out this weekend to 2014 UCLA commit RB Marlon Mack from Florida.  They didn't offer Mack but are talking about him visiting Ann Arbor.  Mack is a 3 star to Rivals.

There have also been a ton of "noise" that Michigan's top 2015 recruit RB Damien Harris might be re-thinking his commitment to the Wolverines.  After George Campbell de-committed, Damien took down all his Michigan stuff on twitter.   Damien was also close to Big Al and was surprised by his firing.    It's been reported that Coach Nuss and Coach Jackson are planning on visiting Damien this week.  (Smart move!)

Michigan's top two targets to close out the year continues to be McDowell and Jones.   We will see how the staff does.

  • There are reports that Big Al might be a candidate for ND's OC opening, which I say ok.   I believe Brian Kelly calls the plays.

  • Some of the early enrollees have posted their numbers:  Drake = 14, Wilton =19, Michael = 46.

  • Would you be surprised if the State of Michigan has a player in the 2014 class that has offers from the likes of Florida, Nebraska, Iowa, Virginia, Arkansas and now Oklahoma?  Would you be surprised to learn that that this player is currently committed to Western Michigan and that neither Michigan or MSU have offered?  His name is Chukwuma Okorafor and he is a 6'6 285 pound offensive lineman.   He played his high school ball at Southfield and is rated as a 3 star to Rivals.   He plays on the same team as commit Lawrence Marshall and prospect Malik McDowell so I assume the Michigan coaches know about Okorafor.    Could he be one of those really late offers if things don't work out with Michigan's last two targets?

  • Michigan has 5 new 2015/16 offers out:  2015 WR Juval Mollette,  2015 CB  Minkah Fitzpatrick, 2015 DE Jalen Dalton, 2016 OL Thiyo Lukusa and 2016 RB Kareem Walker.
