Michigan finally laid an egg on the road in the Big Ten. Yogi hit everything he looked at and most of Nik's shot went in and then bounced out for a total of 6 points. It was a frustrating game to watch as you could tell Michigan had more talent on the floor but on Sunday afternoon the shots weren't dropping for the Wolverines and they couldn't find a answer for Yogi or Boo Boo on the other side of the floor.
Two things bothered me watching the game. The first was Michigan basically letting Yogi get any 3 point shot he wanted, second was that Michigan should have taken the ball to the basket more then shooting threes all day. Nik and GR3 could of had a layup drill all afternoon if they wanted it, the guys guarding them could not stay in front of them. Morgan passed up a layup when a small guard had him in the low post for a open 3 point shot miss. That was pretty much the story of the entire game for the Wolverines.
Hopefully the Wolverines will now understand the difference from being the hunter to the hunted.
- I guess the Super Bowl answered my question on Friday. A good defense beats a good offense. That was quite a performance by the Seahawks. The Seattle defense outscored the entire Broncos offense. Throw in the kick return and the Seahawks offense didn't even need to score to win the game.
- Malik will announce his decision at 9:30 AM on signing day/Wednesday. He is now back from his Ohio State visit and it's time to make a decision. If you want to understand more of this complex decision, check out this story in the Detroit News.

3 things I didn't understand about Sunday's game.
1. Where was Morgan in the 2nd half? He was a beast in the first half, on his way to a career game, then he disappeared.
2. Coach, Gary Harris shuts Nick down for a half and we adjust in the locker room and manage to get some real production in the 2nd half. Indiana doesn't have a Gary Harris..
3. Why didn't we get a hand in yogi's face for every shot? It was frustrating watching that little dude have is way on the perimeter, mostly uncontested.
Like coach said, we weren't going to run the table, so ok... we lost.. hopefully we don't play that terrible a game again this season.
Does MM know that Greg Mattison was a DC in the NFL?
GO BLUE!
Regarding the game, I think coaches should make adjustments on the fly during the game and not wait until halftime...that's just me. That's why head coaches have assistants with various sets of eyes watching for things because they can see things that you don't. Why wait until you're ten or more points down to adjust when you can stop the bleeding now?
Regarding recruiting concerns...it's tuff when you're recruiting against schools with the party atmosphere and the allusion of sex, drugs and alcohol is such a strong appeal to the young guys when they're about to leave home for the first time.
Some schools as you know even arrange other persons to do their work, take their exams and attend large classes on their behalf. The rationale for the student is "why not, if I'm going to play pro ball anyway? Who needs to know this stuff?" I wish that weren't the case but it's true at some schools.
There has to be some consideration to the truth of the matter that there will be life after sports, and sometimes it's because of injury or failed expectations of performance that can cause a student to need a real education which comes sooner than expected.
Some schools as you know have SEC recruiting style practices where you have a scholarship this year but could lose it next year to a hotter young prospect. So what are the ethical practices of the schools that your son is considering?
I was listening to a former retired NFL linebacker share a personal experience of his several months back. He said that he was a highly recruited student coming out of high school and went to a big time university on the coast. He said when he got to practice he realized just how many other great and outstanding athletes at his position was already there and coming in. He started to lose some of his own confidence and called his mother and said, "Mom, these guys are good! I don't know if I can cut it here." She was the one that talked him into staying and competing and the rest is history.
Parents can do their best to help guide them but in essence it's about the intrinsic foundational values that were laid since birth that will make the difference as opposed to the last few months before a decision is made. IMHO
