Michigan Friday: Coach B is Squeaky Clean

Michigan Basketball coach has been voted the cleanest coach in college basketball in a survey of his peers by CBS Sports.   In the fact, the vote wasn't even close, Coach B got over 26% of the votes and #2 was ND Coach Mike Brey who got 10.5% of the vote.

I know we all have had some complaints about Coach B and not recruiting the top guys but he plays by the rules and does it the right away.   That is what we expect from the CEO of Michigan Basketball.  Here is what one coach said,   John Beilein is a by-the-book, letter-of-the-law guy. LETTER-OF-THE-LAW. ... You get two hours to work out guys for the week. If he works out a kid and, say, they go one hour and one minute, he's going to start the next time with 59 minutes on the clock and go 59 minutes. That's the truth."

  • A Michigan Insider UMBig11 is saying on Touch the Banner that the QB race is over and Wilton won the job.  O'Korn is #2 and Peters is #3.  It seems Peters has dropped way off and McCaffrey would be #3 if not for his redshirt.   Let the transfer rumors begin!

  • There have been a few articles in the past week about PJ Fleck being the next Jim Harbaugh.   I like PJ a lot and think this was a great hire for Golden Gophers, but lets slow the train on the PJ - Jimmy comparisons quite yet.   The best comparison I can see at this point, is they both coach in the Big Ten and both seem to have unlimited energy and drive.

  • This is the final weekend for the Michigan's Fall Camp.  Monday starts Game Week, even though I'm sure they have been preparing for Florida for the past 3 weeks or so.

  • Speaking of Florida, their newest QB Malik Zaire doesn't seem to be a fan of the 3 QB system: “Obviously it’s not ideal,” Zaire said, per Thompson. “I don’t think anybody in the quarterback room wants that. But at the end of the day, you just gotta do what coach wants. I feel like coach should be confident enough to stick with a guy and be able to roll with that guy because that’s best for the team. When you have all these quarterbacks, you still have none at the end of the day.”

I just wish he coached and recruited better.

I am probably off and this might not be a totally fair comparison, but PJ Fleck reminds me more of Gene Chizik or Larry Coker than Jim Harbaugh.

Yes - Western improved under his watch but he also had Corey Davis. The best player in the conference by a mile. I watched a couple of Western's game and was at the MAC Championship. Western looked ok but, to me, it looked like Fleck was getting out coached and then just started throwing everything to Davis.

I wish him all the best at Minnesota, but I believe anyone that thinks he will have then competing for a Big Ten Championship soon will be disappointed.

No way! Peters is the chosen one! Or at least according to the BP fan club! He's been the chosen one ever since WS sucked so much or that is how the talk goes.
