They're Just Better

Playing a perfect football game is a difficult thing.  It's hard to be perfect in such an aggressive sport.  To beat a better football team you need to play perfect and hope the better team makes a few mistakes.   The game today came down to one little play, that didn't go in Michigan's favor.  After scoring the first TD and then missing the extra point, on OSU's first play from center Dobbins fumbles the ball and it bounces right up to him for a 35 gain,  If that ball bounces sideways like most fumbles, it could have been an entire different story.   It wasn't and the blow out was on because Michigan couldn't even slow the Ohio State offense and made far too many mistakes to even be competitive with the #1 team in the nation.

Michigan got dominated by the OSU offensive line.  I'm surprised OSU attempted a pass becuase they sure didn't need to.   Even when the no name QB came in, Michigan couldn't stop them.   This game isn't on coaching, its just OSU has better players by a landslide.

This isn't going to change folks, OSU is going to continue to recruit 5 star NFL players and Michigan will continue to recruit 3 and 4 stars that have 4.0 grade points.

I'm not going to do cheers and jeers as there was too many jeers to point out.

Michigan did do a good job on Chase Young and the offensive game plan was solid.  Michigan was picking apart the OSU defense before Shea fumbled the snap and the WR's started dropping the ball.  Anyway you want to slice it, Michigan was never going to win a shoot out.

Time to play in a neutral site scrimmage and plan for next year's second place finish to OSU.   The athletic department needs to call the ACC and see if they have an opening.

Agree 100%... They are just better players and coaches...

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone...

GO BLUE

In Harbaugh we trust said...

This time there shouldn’t be calls for a new coach..Until we get a dominant RB we are not going to win..I hope the incoming freshman were watching this game and decide this isn’t going to happen again..as for how many of them de commit...Only time will tell...it’s an empty feeling, but let’s be honest we’ve seen this movie before..:. One last point, the commentators kept mentioning how small our DL was..Then from now to signing day the coaching staff better knock on every recruits door who are over 300 pounds...inexcusable we can’t bring in kids..I will forever bleed blue..but I’m not a blind fan..Braylen Edwards said we were light years away from Ohio State..maybe he wasn’t so far off..

Fire Harbaugh! Fire him now!

I drank he Kool-Aid, I thought we were on are way to victory after the first touch-down. I was hooked like a fish on someone's stringer. At least we have not fallen down as bad as Nebraska, now that is a lost cause.

Blame the system, the playoff system has created an imbalance and lack of parody. The playing field is not even on Saturday afternoon because the recruiting environment is not even the rest of the year. Ohio state simply has to state to a recruit" we have been to the playoff if you want to play near home & want to play in a playoff game your only choice is ohio state. Same goes for bama, Oklahoma, & Oregon. This gives these schools a big advantage. The SEC does have more parody because there are more high level recruits to draw from. This is not on Harbaugh this is a product of a bad system. The rich will continue to get richer while the rest hope for a 5 star crumb here & there.

A good comparison as to how well Michigan did, the Rutger's vs Ohio State score was 56-21(almost identical), also look at the fact that Ohio State was scoring above their average of 48(49?) points a game.

I hope Jim's rear end is sore as hell, like a Tranny with a 13 inch, rode him with no lubrication..... because we are not competitive any more... for his 7 million, I hope a well endowed tranny jams him a good one. Rides him and spanks him on the butt at the same time, and yells "Yee-haw"... but Jim would probably enjoy the ride.

ScottyDoggs said...

Were just worse....

When Rutger's performed just as good as we did, we have a problem.

Quit making excuses (although well founded), we just got our hat handed to us again, with no look into the future to possible change.

I think we need home grown quarter backs, no quick fix solutions, I should not get so upset, because I will soon be doner with college football, they will start getting paid, and any of you think this will not be a big deal, needs to have therapy, by giving yourself a "chunky", in a plugged up toilet.

Is Ole Hard Balls still the coach?

This has become Alabama vs Tennessee

I thought the offense played well in the 1st half, but when the D isn't getting many stops, the O had to be perfect, and they weren't. Besides the D, couple of things I could of done without. Didn't like the "getting cute" on the extra point after the opening scoring drive. Nordin has struggled at times with kicking extra points, just line him up for the extra point and let him get his mind right. No way was OSU thinking we were really going for 2, nor were they going to be unprepared for that look. I'm over the whole wildcat look. Just turn yourself into a one dimensional attack and too easy to defend. You want to direct snap it to the RB with the QB in the backfield, go for it, but pulling your QB off the field is stupid!

As for the D, I really think Jim is at the crossroads with Don Brown. I know I'll probably get broiled for this, but I think Don's at his ceiling. His defenses will look really good against bad or average teams, but when we play the better teams in college football, he'll be exposed. Putting it another way, I can't see Don Brown ever out coaching an elite team with an elite OC.

Bob, for you to say this was the Big Ten Championship game was vary disrespectful not only on your part but, the entire Big Ten Teams. PSU went into OSU and put a measurable fight and had a fighting chance to win that game....maybe you should have called that game to be the Championship game....this is exactly what I mean when I call Michigan fans delusional....I hope you all can see why I wanted Jim to fired after last season and Don Garage Brown two years ago....I hope Jim leaves and don't let Urban leave town without a head coaching position in AA2. If Jim does decided to stay, please FIRE DON GARBAGE BROWN....I swear I though we had a chance to win this game...OSU had a QB never played a true road game and they are coming to AA2...

MichiganMan said...

Shea went 4 for 24 after the half...ouch!! A QB change should have been made!!

MichiganMan said...

Chowman.. trust me buddy... no one will hire Don Brown...at least an elite team...maybe Indiana can hire him so he can put beating on us next year...that would funnnyyyy!!

Chowman said...

MichiganMan: Naw when Don doesn't have the better thoroughbreds in the race, he'll lose every time. His defense is bully ball. Beat up on the weak, and turtle against the bigger better teams!

MichiganMan said...

You said it the best...there is always next year!! It was pleasureful year, but bitter ending...

ScottyDoggs said...

Jesus Christ is "fake news"( I have never been a believer, even as a eleven year old.

Jim Harbaugh is no longer my "savior" in football.

We will keep him, but why not hire the Appalachian State coach

Anyone that pays for tickets next year has no self respect... that was like whacking off with sand paper

Listen my friend once upon a time I was a fan like you every time someone criticized Michigan I used to get all offended but now that I see the reality I don't take a loss as bad as I did before.... here's my advice to you once you accept the reality it makes life so much easier.

ScottyDoggs said...

I had my undercover associates secretly scout out the real problem with Michigan always losing to Ohio State...

To my horror they uncovered a hidden plot.

WE ARE BEING "RICK ROLLED", Ohio State is sending audio that only our players can hear... being bombarded with that "song", makes them unable to concentrate,
and allows them to be Ohio(Rick) rolled.

We have to help them now, before it's too late, call your congressman (woman).

Unknown said...

Justin Fields had a 4.0 GPA in high school and was a 5 star recruit. Clearly you can find both

MichiganMan said...

szanreno....i like the advice you posted.... guys don't be so down we might still win a bowl game if we played Central Michigan and Don Brown defense only gives up 50 yards

ScottyDoggs said...

Kemp pulling off shoe of Ohio State player? Have we sunk so low? If Harbaugh allowed him to play anymore or the bowl game would be treasonous to the Michigan legacy.

Harbaugh is on a 24/7 vacation he loves football, the play where we muffed the first extra point exemplifies wasted effort for inferior results.

If Harbaugh allowed Kemp to play anymore, points to the fact that we have a imposter as coach (a clown).

For those of you (like VOR) say keep Harbaugh forever, what price are you willing to pay for victory. Did Harbaugh's children teach Kemp how to take off that shoe? Michigan has no discipline and practice is Harbaugh' hobby (fun time) not work.

Another way of putting it, if Harbaugh was 5-0 against Ohio State, some of you would say Jimmy's the second coming of Christ...well were 0-5, "who has is better than us, I remember who touted that 5 years ago. Ironic the guy who said that went splits-ville!!1

szanreno said...

That wasn't my advice, it was a cut and paste from you "Mr fire em all". Relax and breathe folks.

MichiganMan said...

Thanks for reminding my own advice everybody just breathe we will win the bowl game.... Don Brown will be fired after the bowl game

Ohio State's 2020 class is No. 4 in the nation, while Michigan's ranks No. 12. The Buckeyes have eight commitments who rank higher than the Wolverines' top-ranked commitment, four-star receiver A.J. Henning. Four of those eight prospects are receivers: five-star Julian Fleming (No. 3 overall), four-star Jaxon Smith-Njigba (No. 47), four-star Gee Scott Jr. (No. 64) and four-star Mookie Cooper (No. 79).

This sums up why we are losing this game every year. Recruiting and on field performance are inexorably linked. We are losing the recruiting battle.
Michigan is in an odd college football purgatory, good but not good enough.

MichiganMan said...

Yeah but what about Penn State and Purdue they beat Ohio State in last 4 years.... explain that one.... recruiting has some to do with it but mostly it's the strategy and the play calling.... I have no idea why Hudson and metellus are on the field at the same time... they both are slow cannot cover anybody

I believe osu has lost 6 games over the last 5 years that includes bowl games. The fact is they dont lose often but occasionally they will. When they are not focused or are looking ahead to a future game. Their big 10 loses, I believe have more to do with them playing poorly rather then their opponent having more talent and better coaching. One more point osu will NEVER come to AA not focused or looking ahead. The talent gap is real its unsolvable and it's not Harbaughs fault. Love him or hate him, keep him or fire him the problem will remain for years to come.

Cmfgoblue said...

Yes it will remain... so do we just go status quo? Expect it or just stop trying to get to their level? So when the Russians pit sputnik into orbit what did we do? Say well... fuck it... there just better! What a bunch of shit! We either do what bob says and leave conference and blasted in the ACC championship by clemson every year... go independent... or suck it up and learn from them i guess... learn from clemson... from bama...from Oklahoma... keep trying... find the right coach... even if they lose to osu... we know that Harbaugh will... no matter who is at fault... him or don brown or he players... dont matter... in AMERICA you keep trying until your the best... what if they had this lousy attitude back in the 1910’s ... well michigan has YOST! Can be beaten well fuck it ... they are just better

Cmfgoblue said...

Bo when he took over in 69.... well ... they have woody hayes fuck it there better... never catch up... Dantonio when he got to Msu.. well Michigan is to good cant recruit... we will never win here.. well i quit lets not try to be better... we are only this good

Cmfgoblue said...

Your kid comes third in a track meet.... well son you lost to an future olympian... so you know what... dont try and get better... keep everything the same... dont try and reach new heights... make sense guys... so keep Jim and go 9-3 because thats as good as we can be... roght?

Cmfgoblue said...

Auburn deals with bama every year... well they cant be beaten...better not try

Goose said...

Apologies for hitting a nerve. I was not advocating a defeatist mentality. I was only attempting to point out that the problem is bigger than a coach it's a systemic problem in my opinion.

Cmfgoblue said...

Soo we are choosing to be Mike Gundy and Oklahoma St? Keep him around cause Barry Sanders will come around some day and then we can beat the sooners

Cmfgoblue said...

Its not you my man... its for any one who thinks that keeping this coach ok... it telling everyone that 9-3 is ok because Osu is “Just better”

Cmfgoblue said...

I guess Minnesota better give us the Jug... forget playing for it.... dont find a better coach... Michigan is just better...

ScottyDoggs said...

Cmfgoblue...you are 100% right, it will be difficult, but a concerted effort (new regime?) over time will right the ship.

We have to be grounded here, cut and running is not an option because we are the big ten ( a major part of it), maybe Bob is joking but leaving conference is never an option.

For five years, we have had transfers as quarterbacks... how well does that play with recruits (opposition coaches will tell a player not to go to Michigan because he likes transfers.

I would be nice to find out what Harbaugh did with Kemp (foot fetish), if he did nothing I would can Harbaugh's butt immediately, because he does not control team, (they control him)

Harbaugh knows he can not do it, that's why he said the new OC would call plays...

A side note... I looked up in the dictionary "speed in space"....and the answer was Ohio State.

Keep Harbaugh, but cut his pay in half.

MichiganMan said...

Haha... I don't want to say this but I have the last laugh

MichiganMan said...

How long have I been saying we need to switch coach?... how many you guys supported me?

MichiganMan said...

It's never a Bad Thing trying to find the right coach....everyone strive to be better than we were yesterday... if Jim Cooper can't beat Ohio State or the next coach can't beat Ohio State you never stop fighting until you find the right one

Cmfgoblue said...

Exactly! Is that not what a coach should do with players? Rotate until you find the right one for each position
