I think we all want Michigan Football this fall but I also don't want to put 100+ healthy young man in harms way to play a sport. The Big Ten parents sent an open letter to the Big Ten Commissioner, those are the same parents that would sue the ass of the Big Ten if their child got COVID and had future complications. There really isn't a correct answer.
Do the other leagues have it right? They don't know.............
- NC State has already had to reschedule its first game due to an outbreak in the Athletics Department
- Oklahoma had and entire position group ( player with a negative test) get infected, with 17 total positive tests on Monday.
- 21 players tested positive at Texas Tech on Tuesday
- University of Alabama has 566 positive tests on campus since opening its doors last week
- USC had to pause Football and Water Polo workouts after 8 positive test (USC is not playing football this fall).
It's hard to know if these programs are the exception or the rule. Either way, it doesn't seem to be going well in the places are trying to play this Fall.
- Michigan had been out of this recruitment for awhile but 4 star TE Thomas Fidone committed to Nebraska.

I know a guy who's daughter goes to Alabama. I asked him about the news report of 500+ positive cases on campus. His reply, "There are over 33,000 on campus, between students and staff, 550 cases is just over 1.5%, which is about what you'd expect".
I asked if there was any mention of how many were symptomatic vs asymptomatic, he said to his knowledge there was not.
Being a resident of Tuscaloosa I can confirm there is very little talk or concern about the virus shutting anything down.🤷♂️ Roll Tide.....I guess
The medical data says more student will die from the flue than covid. Should we bunker down for the flu? “Harms way”? These kids are more in harms way from not playing football than from playing it. Cancelling is cowardly.
I agree, we have as a nation over reacted & did so with no exit strategy & all this in an election year which only served to politicize this. Let's get back to doing what Americans do. Baseball, football, family celebrations etc.
Love to see that data. I'm 61 years old and I don't know one single person that has ever died from the flu. I don't even know anybody that's been in the hospital because of the flu. The WHO says that the flu data are estimates not actual body counts and the doctors say it's way overstated.
From I have seen from the data provided by Michigan athletic department that they were doing an excellent job containing the virus. At the Michigan football team deserved a chance to play.
This is simple to me, Play ball, these schools should be given the opportunity to show that they can make a difference and set an example as to how to contain this as best as they can and play sports, if your leaders on campus don’t do the right things and you cannot compete than guess what... your eliminated for the year and move on to the next year and get things right, Michigan did things right, Osu did not, they had to shut down practice, well that means we were excelling at this and they were not, just like always with things that truly matter in life, Michigan is always ahead of osu, like the Cardinals in baseball, everyone has to play 7 inning games now because they had an outbreak? Bullshit, they should have been eliminated immediately, do the right things as a organization and you win ball games, should be the same here, avoid outbreaks by doing the right things and you should get to play, not wait to compete with those that did not,
Easy to find that data suznreno, just got to use the web. You may not see stats that people die from the flu or covid, because generally they die from the complications due to flue or covide, ie pneumonia, respiratory disease, heart and so on. The point is, these kids are safe and all the pansy-ass wrapping them in bubblewrap will never work. You may also want to try and understand the costs they will have from not playing...and I'm referring to much more than revenue. I'm referring to alcohol problems, suicides, domestic abuse. Football gives many of these kids the motivation to avoid those pitfalls. Without it, many of them lose their focus.
