Wolverine Wednesday: Big Ten Awards and Non-Awards

I'm not a huge fan of Big Ten Awards as they always seems to recognize the wrong people.   Case in point, this years AP National Player of the Year and Big Ten Player of the year Luke Garza is barley draft-able by the NBA.   You ask any basketball player would they rather be a lottery pick in the NBA or have some dusty hardware on the shelf?

The Big Ten awards came out and some Wolverines got awards and other didn't.

  • Juwan Coach of the Year
  • Hunter Freshman of the year and 1st team Media, 2nd Team Coaches
  • Livers 2nd Team both Media and Coaches
  • Wagner 2nd Team Coaches and 3rd Team Media
I think the biggest miss here is the Franz not being on the all defensive team.  His length and ability to defend was note worthy all year and he at least should of made the team and has a case for best defender in the Big Ten.

  • Illinois AD writes an open letter about not being named co-Big Ten Champions.  They will get the same treatment the Big Ten gave Michigan about officials who are known Ohio State fans working the Michigan - OSU game.

  • Josh Burnham a 4 star instate LB is treading to ND and is announcing in a week

  • Future Wolverines Caleb Houstan & Mousa Diabate have been named 2021 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School All-Americans
