Michigan Tuesday: Keeping Centered and Balanced

Michigan Football built a winning formula this past season.   Power football with multiple backs and good offensive line play.   Michigan recently has had very good Center's including 1st round draft pick Ceasar Ruiz and this season Andrew Vastardis, who may head to the NFL or Medical School.   To keep the winning formula alive, Michigan has looked into the transfer portal at two guys who might be a good fit for next year's team.

At center, VA Center Olusegun Oluwatimi visited last weekend.  Is he a good center?  He was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy for the best center in the country.   Here is the write up from the Rimington site:

Olusegun Oluwatimi started all 12 games for Virginia in 2021 and has started 32-straight dating back to the 2019 season. A Rimington Trophy watch lister for the second season in a row, Oluwatimi was also named a second-team All-ACC selection. According to Pro Football Focus, he is ranked second-highest among all FBS centers with a 90.2 run blocking grade and only allowed three sacks and five QB hits in 2021.

“I don’t have any answers to that right now,” he said. “The Michigan visit was great. Coach Elliott seems great. So I’ve got some decisions to make coming up.”

With burners Corum and Edwards in the back field next year, Michigan is looking for a Haskins like power back.  That back could be ASU RB DeaMonte Trayanum who is originally from Akron.  He had 78 carries for 401 yards and 6 TD's this past season.  He visited this past weekend and is looking good to join the Wolverines.

Michigan will never be MSU or other programs that tries to remake their entire roster through the portal, but they can always add one or two good pieces a year.

  • WR Darrius Clemons (Michigan, Oregon, Auburn, Penn State) and DL/LB Derrick Moore (could be a Ole Miss vs. Michigan battle - old friends battling for this young man) are announcing Wednesday afternoon.
  • Michigan is a little shaky with commit DE Kevonte Henry from CA, he visited Washington over the weekend and is a Courtney Morgan recruit.
  • Another name to watch on Wednesday is Instate Athlete Keon Entringer from Walled Lake.  He is a 6'2 190 pound athlete who has offers from ND, Iowa, Wisconsin, BC, Colorado and others.
  • Don't forget its Early NSD Eve
  • Rattler to South Carolina - Beamer Ball 2.0
  • Lots of QB's in the transfer portal right now- Auburn, Texas AM, and USC lost starters yesterday
  • H2 to Senior Bowl

***** As always, I will post every LOI that Michigan receives on Wednesday.  It's a fun day here at the BHB and the biggest traffic day of the year.  Come early and often and let's watch together as the news breaks and the class comes together on the fly.
