Michigan Thursday: Harbaugh Comes Back Home

National Signing Day is supposed to be about flipping 4 stars to Ann Arbor.  Not losing your head coach to the NFL.   Us Michigan fans waited all day for Twitter to explode and new names mentioned to coach our legendary team.   Something happened to the way to Harbaugh becoming the next Vikings head coach.

The reports are all over the place on what happened but what I've gathered is Harbaugh was expecting a formal interview and then an offer.   The Vikings were in more of the 2nd interview phase then the offer stage.   As I mentioned, the Vikings ownership might have not been sold on Jimmy leading their team.   Whether that was true or not, really doesn't matter.  Jimmy interviewed didn't get an offer and is now back coaching the Wolverines.

So now what?

Reports are that Jimmy will not be doing this NFL dance every year and he is at Michigan as long as they want him.   That is good news but is it 100% accurate?  I hope this experience made it clear to him that he is a college football coach.

Hire a damn DC!   Michigan needs one as quickly as possible so they can prepare for Spring Practice and recruiting the 2023 class.  I know some Viking fans were hoping for Harbaugh and former Broncos head coach Vic Fangio.   Love that for the short term, but much prefer a younger guy that will hit the road and recruit.  I think Vic could scheme up a hell of a defense.   Give Larry Foote a big offer and get him to come home.

What do I think?

I'm happy Jimmy is back, I still believe he is the best coach for Michigan.  What I don't like is the clown show of a month we had to go through.   Maybe there wasn't any new recruits to be added on NSD but this was not a good look for anyone involved.    The good news nobody will remember this is a couple weeks/months and we all can move on with an explosive offense and a defense that needs a new leader.

In MichiganMan's defense, the Shah of Dubai prohibits his minions from accesing BigHouse blog from within its borders. There's a firewall few can penetrate. Not even an IT giant with poor grammar. Don't be fooled. The trojan horse is a jack ass.

Sorry for the persnicketyness, but please, please, please use "than" (notice the "a") when making a comparison. "The Vikings were in more of a 2nd interview stage THAN the offer stage."

Dip-sh1t Bucknut man aside, I'm really happy for Mich. Had JH left in December, maybe we could have gotten a new coach and been ready to roll by mid-Feb. But, starting now would have meant an ugly 2022 season.

I'm hopeful we get Foote or someone as solid as DC. Would actually be cool to have Fangio around for a season or two. Don't need him to recruit, just scheme.

I do believe that both JH and the team are better together. He's not an NFL coach, and he can give us min 10 win seasons, and the occasional 12+ wins. We just need to get on the NIL bandwagon and do it as cleanly as possible.

The truth is that we don't really know everything that went on behind the scenes. We may not know anything that went on behind the scenes. We don't know if we can trust the stuff that's been reported from ANY of the media outlets and they've pretty much have said the same thing, that they "didn't know" while reporting like they did know; and in so doing it formed a narrative that "Jim Harbaugh is/was the problem."

It's much like being married, your wife calls you at work and leaves a message for you to pick up the kids today from school because she wants to see her sick mother. You don't get the message until it's too late and when you get home she's yelling at you and saying "don't touch me," and so now you're upset and go out for a drink, and she's in the bathroom with door locked and crying. What your neighbors and family sees is that you and your spouse are upset with one another and somehow YOU messed up. Family speaks with her and she says that you are selfish and don't care, but no one speaks with you and you say to yourself that they just don't understand. All the while the truth is somewhere inside of you and no one is asking you what happened.

We've just heard one side of this story. Harbaugh is a brilliant mind and maybe somewhat of a quirky savant, but he knows the game and loves Michigan and Michigan is fortunate to have him. We don't truly and fully know what's going on behind the curtain and we won't know until he goes public with it.

I am reminded from my literary readings years ago, a thought of the 16th century theologian Martin Luther (not MLK), when he said (paraphrasing), that when someone does something that is hurtful to you and they act like they're not aware of it, we are to put the best face on the situation and assume that they meant it with the best of intentions.

I am giving Jim Harbaugh the benefit of the doubt. IMHO!!!

Spot on Voice of Reason. I'll tell you one of the things I get tired of every year is the fans going back and forth whether they want him to stay or go. Not Jim himself. They need to get their shit together first in my opinion. You're either in or you're out. I'm in and I'm glad he's back. Last year's going to be a tough year to beat and soon as he loses a game everybody's going to jump on the let's get rid of Jim bandwagon again. Watch and see. Go Blue!

Love Jim Harbaugh....but "And those who stay will be Champions." "No coach is more important than the team.

Bo had his troubles in late 1979/80 and again in 1984. People we calling for his head and Bo looked and almost accepted a Texas A+M job. YouTube it.

Go Blue!!!

I want Jim Harbaugh to pass Bo Schembechler in total wins and I want Jim Harbaugh to win a National Championship for Bo.
