The Big Ten just signed an NFL TV contract. 7 billion for 7 years. They will have Big Ten football across 3 TV platforms including Fox, CBS, and NBC (is it 4 with the BTN?). It will start at noon and then end at 11:00 each Saturday night.
A thought: With all these games across 3 networks: will the Big Ten Channel become the Big Zone? Similar to the Red Zone?
The Big Ten is doing the right thing and getting the most money they can and signing the largest college football contract ever. I do think it's a mistake to not include ESPN in some way. ESPN is the sports network people watch when sports are not on. They also have the best college football pre-game show (and it's not even close). Lastly, this will open up all 3 major networks streaming platforms, so expect Michigan Basketball on Peacock for example. In fact, mid-week Big Ten Basketball is probably going to be on the network's secondary channels or streaming platforms.
Lastly, all 3 networks need to get much better at college football. Fox does an ok job, but I don't respect a network that continues to hire Urban Meyer (or thinks about rehiring him). CBS has just been the SEC game of the week and NBC is similar with 1 ND game. Fox does have one of the best booths with local boy Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt. CBS, I will give you one piece of advice, NO GARY DANIELSON.
Having 2 new networks jump into college football full time will give many former players new opportunites (Jake Butt for example) and play-by-play voices. This also means we are going to be hearing a lot of bad calls as these networks find their footing calling more than one game a week.
- Damani Dent sounds like he got banged up in camp and may miss some time. Let's hope it was just a fender bender.
- UCLA Regents are pushing back on the move to the Big Ten. Did they see the new TV contract?
- Eyabi Anoma is offically on the roster now and will wear #18. Everyone is worried about him learning the defense. His job is to rush the QB and should be able to play right away. If he plays LB, then he will have a ton to learn. He is listed as EDGE on the roster.
- Former A2 resident for training and GOAT Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps spoke to the team over Zoom this week. He talked about the importance of recovery, rest, and hydration.

What a plethora of info! Thanx to Bob, one click and I can find the pulse on Michigan football ... is that post okay with you Sarenzo? Please do not abort my post!!
Agree, Bighouseblog is my go to page for Michigan info. After I read the depressing local news, I jump right to it while my coffee is still hot. Lately I've switched my sports radio from 97.1 (Spartan Radio) to Woodward Sports Network. The Woodward guys include Braylon Edwards, Terry Foster, Sean Beliegian, Tom Mazzaway, Darren McCarty, and other talented guys that can talk open and honestly about Michigan football without all the snotty put downs and Sparty rah rah. I highly recommend downloading the WSN app! As Jimmy Walker on the Medicare Advantage commercials would say, "It's FREEEE!"
Brady you have to be talking about the afternoon slot. The midday slot has Karsh who's the new Michigan football play-by-play guy. Sure he's balanced out by Gator. In the morning you have Jon Jansen & Stoney both UofM slappies, even though Stoney will claim neutrality. For the night slot you have Wojo, when he's there and Riger, again 2 UofM slappies. Now as far as the Valenti show, I think Mike's come along way. There was a time I couldn't stand him, but he'll give Michigan its due when warranted. Now Rico Beard, absolutely obnoxious. He's soooooooo Sparty its sick!
I knew you'd be back scottydoggs, not that you ever left. Don't worry about your posts, I'm pro-posting...
Chowman, problem with Karsch is he NEVER talks Michigan or anything else except the Lions. He must be getting paid to endorse the Lions because its all day, every day. Stoney is weird. He has bet against Michigan every game for the last 3 years and thinks it's cute. I'd hardly call him a Michigan fan. Jansen is cool. Wojo lives in Valenti's shadow and is afraid to have a strong take about UM in fear he will be called a slappy. I've listened to those guys religiously for 20 years. It's refreshing to hear other voices on WSN!
Unknown, Wojo writes Michigan fluff pieces for the DetNews all the time. Ok, Stoney might not be a Michigan slap, but he more for Michigan than State, but I agree he is a weirdo. Disagree with you on Karsh. 1st he's a MSU alum. He tries to present an air that he's neutral as he's employed by the Michigan football. Jansen on the other hand makes no qualms that he's a Michigan slap, and that should be expected as an alum and a former Wolverine football player.
