Wolverine Wednesday: AA to OK

Michigan fans expected Andrel Anthony to be a star WR this season.  As a true freshman, he came on to the scene with a huge game against his home town MSU Spartans.  Michigan ended up not winning that game due to a fumble by JJ and a terrible call by the officials.  Still #1 looked like the next Braylon Edwards or Anthony Carter.  Then this season happened and Ronnie Bell was back from injury.  Yes, that limited Anthony's snaps but the talented WR basically disappeared from the offense.   So, he decided to pack his bag and head to the portal for a new program.  He found one yesterday in the Oklahoma Sooners who had a rebuilding year last season and will look to take a few steps in the right direction in 2023.  Good luck to Andrel!

Is it me or is there less fanfare around the Harbaugh decision to stay or go?  I just think we're all just tired of it and wish he would make a decision before we lose a 5-star QB in the 2024 class and other recruits.   Santa and Warde, can we get something done already?  Jim, this is on you as well, don't let your new agent air all your activity on social media.

  • Fickell is active in the transfer portal and now has grabbed another QB.  This time its Mississippi State's Braedyn Locke who was a true freshman last season.
  • The ratings are in for the NC game on Monday.  They peaked early at just over 22M and by the end it was 10M.  What a disaster for ESPN and the CFP.  Stephen A. Smith said on air that ESPN should get a refund for that game. Basically, the two semifinal games averaged the same number of viewers the NC peaked at.

Yes I'm over Harbaugh. I went from being apathetic to just go! This annual flirtation with the NFL is an annoyance and really shows where Jim's loyalties are. Hopefully we can have a HC who really wants to be here and not always having one eye on the League!

Chowman....agree with your comment 100%. This soap opera has gone on to long.

I really would like him to stay, as think leaving is going to set us back right when we’ve been peaking. But, if this is an annual thing, then just go.

Thom, until someone hires him, I will still believe that the NFL's interest in Jim is more in Jim's head than it is reality. If Denver had a 1st round pick this year, Sean Peyton would be their next coach as that's reportedly NO demand for Peyton's coaching rights. Now maybe Denver is an unattractive job because of Russell Wilson. Not only did Russell look baked and at the end of the line last season, he also has a reputation of being difficult to work with. Maybe Jim and he will get along, i.e 2 peas in a pod. For all the praise Jim got for Colin Kaepernick, Greg Roman was his OC. Roman's currently the OC in Baltimore and credited with developing an offense to take advantage of Lamar Jackson's skill set. He followed Jim from Stanford! So how much is on Jim and how much was Greg Roman????? Hmm...............

Justwin, him doing this the last 2 seasons is setting us back. All the momentum, all the goodwill we have from beating OSU 2 years in a row, 2 B1G championships in a row, 2 trips to the CFP, we take a step back with him doing the hokey pokey with the NFL. You'd of thought after last year in Minnesota, he'd of learned his lesson, know a bird in the hand is better than....but there's no "or else" in Ann Arbor. Warde's not holding his feet to fire. He's free to do this crap and there's no repercussions. Naw at this point I'll take 2 steps back to get the right guy here that WANTS to be here. That's the thing, I don't think Jim ever really wanted to be here. It was just a pit stop before he got back to the league.

I guess the price of having a successful coach
and one that has been successful in the NFL,
is this end of season Harbaugh drama.
I don't see many NFL teams calling the OSU coach.
I trust that Michigan will be fine with the talent we have.

Get Meyer, Mike Stoops, or the Georgia offensive coordinator. Gonna miss out on Nickolys Harbor with all this side show bull shit.

Little jimmy's problem isn't money. He made, it was reported, over $10 million in 2022. His problem is his giant ego. He thinks the NFL owes him a job and the opportunity to win a super bowl. With his giant ego and his giant quirks the NFL owners have second thoughts. Do they really need this drama. Also, Michigan doesn't need it either? I think not.

I think he should stay in AA and become the next Bo. However if he annually keeps looking at the NFL, it's time to cut him loose. That is definitely not helping the program. Last year he said that this would not happen again. What changed his mind? Stick with your commitment Jimmy!!!!

The fact remains that anyone that interviews for a position is interested in that position or else they wouldn't do it. It's clear that he has a strong interest in the NFL and I guess who wouldn't be because it's the highest level of the sport (the best of the best) and furthermore not every coach or player can make a successful transition to that level.

However, like most of you guys, I have gotten weary of this annual NFL saga after every season, "Will he or won't he?" It seems as though every time the pretty NFL girl (so to speak) comes by and lifts up her skirt, coach Harbaugh wants to take a peek. The Michigan program needs some stability for a number of obvious reasons an it's got to start this year. I'm convinced that Michigan has missed out on a number of outstanding prospects because of this uncertainty and even one of the QB's parents expressed their exasperation about this.

Personally I love coach Harbaugh and I'd want him to stay but for some reason he has this burning desire to go back to the NFL and now I for one would say, "Okay go and be happy, we will get your replacement." It's time! I mean, if you're married or dating and you see your partner consistently with their head on a swivel looking and lusting after other people, then you'd likely say to them, "Our relationship is over, you can pack up your things and go." That's where I am with this now. IMHO!!!
