Michigan Tuesday: 18M Reasons

The Broncos have signed Sean Payton to a contract at $18M a year, after they sent a car full of draft picks to the Saints.  Reports were that Jimmy turned down the Bronco's twice before they offered the job to Payton.  $18M a year? We don't know if Jimmy got a similar offer or if they even got to that point, but that is a lot of money.

  • Reports are that Chris Partridge is heading back to Ann Arbor and will be an assistant coach on defense for the Wolverines.  Which is interesting as that would mean another coach would be heading out.  Since Chris is a LB coach the thought is George Helow might have found a new role.  Getting Chris back is huge for the program as he is known as a top-notch recruiter and the reason Lane Kiffin brought him to Ole Miss.   This is a big win for the Wolverines!
  • RIP to Demetrius Calip who passed away, he was 53.  Calip was a former Michigan Basketball player, who won a National Championship.
  • Happy Birthday to coach Juwan Howard, he is 50
  • Kwity Paye gets an invite to the State of the Union
  • Brian Ferentz got extended at Iowa.  What are they doing over there?
  • Michigan might have gotten a commitment in November from 2024 LB Zach Ludwig.  He isn't rated and it seems he committed to the Wolverines.  Some mystery around this one, as none of the insiders had this information until now.

What is worse, Kirk Ferentz getting an extension or Tom Izzo still having years left on his contract? Both are outdated coaches that haven't changed with the times. Both stubborn and think more of themselves than they should. When I tune in to watch MSU I always see Izzo verbally abusing referees and players. I honestly don't know how he gets away with it. I feel a Woody Hayes or Bobby Knight ending could be in store for Izzo.

It would take a Paterno type scandal for Iowa to give Kirk Ferentz his walking papers. He even survived some accusations of racism from his staff. The Iowa's fanbase has some similarities to Michigan, but worse. They are petrified of trying to replace Kirk Ferentz and will put up with the substandard product then move on. Much like a lot of Spartan fans feared moving on from Dantonio even after he had shown he was more about loyalty to his staff than winning at football.
