Michigan Transfer Portal Tuesday

Colorado has had 41 players enter the transfer portal since Coach Prime took over.  Including 18 players that hopped in on Monday.  Michigan also had some attrition on Monday and there were a few surprises.

AJ Henning - Is a very good punt returner but never could see extended snaps at WR.  With both Wilson and Johnson coming back and the young WR's needing more time.  AJ didn't see a path to the field and will try his luck in the portal.  AJ will be missed and we will always have that end around to beat OSU in a snowy Big House and finding the endzone against Georgia.   Having a guy that can consistently catch punts is an important role and now an open competition.

RJ Moten - Had 15 starts at safety but saw his time diminish at the end of the year.  He was losing time to Paige and the coaches are very high on Sabb and the true freshman coming in.

NHG - Was injured all of last year and didn't play at all.  He was back for the Spring Game but looked slow as he got beat on the long TE catch and run.  He probably was rusty and may not be fully healed.
He also has a young Nebraska transfer looking like a future All American.   Either way, the fix was in and Nikhai Hill-Green decided to "stay with the family" and quickly committed to Biff at Charlotte.

I would have preferred to have kept all 3 players for depth purposes but understood their decision.  For some reason, I get nervous anytime a punt is in the air, fearing the Michigan returner will drop it and cause a short field for the opponent.   This will need to be a high priority in Fall Camp.

Two Michigan 2024 4-star recruits are committing today 👀.

Top 100 TE Brady Priekorn (6'6 225) an instate recruit from Rochester is announcing at 3:00.

Top 300 DT Jerod Smith (6'3 265) from CT will also be announcing today on his social media.

Both look good for Maize and Blue decision! (100% CB)

  • Did I mention that Michigan Basketball was also involved in the Portal jump?  Gregg Glenn III also decided to look for a new program.  He was a true freshman that barely played and probably wasn't going to.  Good Luck GGGG! This should give Juwan even more flexibility in the portal.
  • Michigan HS phenom Emoni Bates will enter the NBA Draft. He averaged 19 points per game for EMU this past season.

Speaking of being nervous whenever Michigan was receiving a punt, I pretty much felt that all the time with Henning. He's a hell of an athlete but he was iffy sometimes with his decision making on punts, ie. letting them go when he should of just called a fair catch and a few of those where the ball it the ground and he scooped it up on the fly. Just felt like disaster was going to strike eventually!

Coach Sanders's circus sideshow is going to come back and bite him. He is running starters and backups out of town. I read somewhere that he only has 20 scholarship players left from 2022 or something like that.
