If you want a summary of the game, it's pretty easy to write. Michigan showed up to a rainy noon kickoff very sleepy and IU dominated both sides of the ball in the first quarter and was up 7-0. During that 1st quarter Michigan was lucky to find themselves down only 7 as they got an interception in the red zone when IU was at least going to be in field goal range. In quarters 2-4 Michigan woke up, adjusted and went on to score 52 unanswered points.
If you're not a Michigan fan, the story ends there. If you are, you were intrigued by the little things. Like Donovan Edwards clearly waving Corum off with 15 seconds left in the 1st half so DE could get his first TD of the season. Michigan calls time out, Corum enters the game and scores. DE is clearly upset.
Then in the 4th quarter with the game in hand and JJ, Blake, and Donovan on the bench. Freshman RB Ben Hall is leading the drive with strong runs. He gets down close to the end zone and his helmet comes off during a tackle, which means he has to head to the sideline. Enters DE and he gets his first TD of the season. The smile on Donovan's face was worth a million words. So was the celebration of his touchdown by his teammates and brothers. That is what Saturday was about, that is what this season is about.
Cheers:
- 52 unanswered points
- Jessie Minter's defensive adjustments
- Mason Graham's fumble scoop and run with one hand
- Semaj Morgan's catch and powerful TD run
- Sabb's pick and end zone break up
- Karmelo English with a TD catch!
- Blake with 2 TD's
- Roman with 1 TD
- Jack Tuttle was 5/5 passing with a TD against his old team
- Loveland with 80 yards and 1 TD
- Junior Colson leads the team in tackles and continues to have a very good quiet season
Jeers:
- Another sleepy start to a home game
- For most of the 1st quarter Michigan had negative offensive yards
- The offense line gave up 3 sacks in the 1st quarter
- Sabb gets beat on long trick play pass for a TD
- Loveland drops the first play of the game
- JJ fumbles but it goes out of bounds
- JJ gets hit hard running the ball with Michigan up 38
- Michigan's secondary gets beat for a couple big plays that were called back by penalties
To continue the theme from the first part of the post. The little things stood out to me in this game. Ben Hall proving his recruitment to Michigan was the right decision for Mike Hart and the Wolverines. Mason Graham hugging the football like a baby with his good and club hand and refusing to go down. Morgan catching a screen pass and Trever Keegan helping him into the end zone. Morgan is 176 pounds and ran like he was 240. Jack Tuttle playing great against his former team and throwing a dime TD pass. Ken Grant got mad at himself for dropping a pick when he dropped back into coverage on a 3rd down. Ken is 339 pounds. Those were the important stories of the game.
With that said, that game is over and its State week.
Big Ten Thoughts:
- Come on Fighting Don Browns!
- Sparty was up 18 in the 4th against Rutgers and lost
- Is Maryland having their regular scheduled Oct/Nov Swoon?
- The Big Ten should refund Fox for showing the Iowa-Wisconsin 15-6 game
- It's now OSU-PSU week
Other thoughts:
- Caleb Williams should send Illinois a gift basket as he was a fill in for Blake Corum last season at the Heisman ceremony. The ND game on Saturday night proved that.
- Yes, coaches can be too aggressive. That was the case for Dan Lanning. If he kicks 2 field goals instead of going for it, Oregon is up 10 points and not 4 late in the 4th quarter. You also have to punt there and let UW go 80-90 yards for the win.
- Mario Cristobal continues to prove he can recruit but routinely gets out coached on game day.

-Someone bench JJ if he runs like that with a huge lead!!
-I’m super happy for Donovan. But don’t think they should have sent Blake in. Let Donv get that earlier one, esp after that Mahomes-Kelce type play before. Don’t know who made that call to send Blake, but don’t agree with it. The joy after he finally scored was awesome
-No clue why all these analysts on TV are saying OR made the right calls not kicking FGs. “He’s playing to win”… giving up 6 points and losing by 3 is playing to win??
-don’t know who I’m rooting for this weekend. PSU scares me more than Ohio. But can I really cheer for bucknuts?
Donavan should transfer ...total disrespectful for Harbough for want let himw score
Blue for life
