Michigan Thursday: Big Ten Preview Week 6

This weekend is full of mostly conference games with only 6 games on the schedule.  Only Northwestern is playing a non-conference opponent.  Let's get right to the matchups.

Friday Night:

Nebraska @ Illinois (-3.5):  Both of these teams are really struggling under their new head coaches.  Illinois was expected to be better after they gave Michigan their toughest conference game last season.  They lost a ton of talent to the NFL and got blown out by Purdue last weekend.   Nebraska 17 Illinois 14

Saturday:

Maryland @ OSU (-20):  Time to tell who is real and who isn't in the Big Ten East.  I was planning to watch the Red River Shoot Out at noon, but this is the game to watch for Michigan fans.  Vegas thinks it will be a blow out.  I'm not that sure.  OSU 31 Maryland 24

Rutgers @ Wisconsin (-14):  This is another interesting match-up on similar teams.  Both like to run the play and play tough defense.  The Big Ten West is there for Wisconsin's taking and can't drop this game at home.  UW 24 Rutgers 17

Howard @ NW (No line):  Northwestern gets another win:  NW 30 Howard 7

Purdue @ Iowa (-2.5):  Purdue had its best game and win last weekend and Iowa won the game but lost Cade in the process.  Vegas has no idea on what is going to happen in this one.  Iowa better not let Purdue score a bunch of points.  Iowa 21 Purdue 17

The OSU/Maryland game should be interesting. I know OSU got a lot of props going into South Bend and beating ND. But that was a brutal game to watch. The play calling was ass on both sides, especially on 4th down. I really think ND is really overrated. They don't tackle well at all. Don't get the Sam Hartman love. OSU still looks like they can be pushed around by a physical team. Their OL/DL is average at best. McCord didn't impress me at all. With the receivers and RBs he has, he should be able to move the ball better than he does. Was that game winning drive more about ND playing to not lose and not to win?

As far as Maryland, when will the real Mike Locksley team stand up? You know the one that fumbles kick offs, throws ill timed interceptions, and other wise finds ways to lose?

Notre Dame is always overrated.
