John U. Bacon tweeted out yesterday that he spoke to a couple high-ranking officials at Michigan that the Regents and President are all aligned on getting Jimmy a new deal in the next month that will make him the highest paid coach in the Big Ten. Let's hope it includes a monster buy-out so we can put all these NFL rumors to bed for the last time.
I started last weekend looking at some of the future Big Ten games this season that will affect the Wolverines. They are starting soon and I thought I would rank them for you.
OLI (Outside Looking In):
- Iowa @ Wisconsin this weekend - to answer, how the west was won.
Top 5 games in the Big Ten:
#5: Michigan @ Maryland 11/18
#4: OSU @ Wisconsin 10/28
#3: PSU @ OSU 10/21
#2: Michigan @ PSU 11/11
#1: OSU @ Michigan 11/25
Ohio State at Wisconsin is a sneaky good game and we will see how good Wisconsin is this weekend. The Big Ten West is a mess and it looks like we will have another bad Big Ten Championship match-up. Can Iowa still win Big Ten games with its backup QB who is completing less than 38% of his passes?
- Andrel Anthony's transfer from Michigan was a bit of a head scratcher after a very good freshman season and a sophomore slump. He went to Oklahoma and they just had a huge rivalry win over Texas. He is currently the Sooners leading WR but we just got some bad news. A2 got injured and is now out for the season. He suffered a knee injury in the 4th quarter of the Red River Shootout that will require surgery.
- Is Mario Cristobal the James Franklin of the ACC? An elite recruiter that has trouble coaching his team on game day? Did you know he made the same kneel down mistake at Oregon as well?
- ESPN Bill Connelly had this to say about JJ: Michigan's first in SP+, and JJ McCarthy is 1st in Total QBR and averaging 9.9 yards per drop back and 9.1 yards per carry. If he actually had to play four-quarter games, he might be the Heisman front-runner. Check out his entire post here.
- PFF College gave Mason Graham "his flowers" for his great performance on Saturday night against the Golden Gophers.
- Do you remember former Michigan RB Michael Cox? He transferred to UMass and was drafted by the Giants in the 7th round. Last year, he won a $28.5M judgement against the NFL for Medical Malpractice due to an in-game injury. (hat tip to Touch the Banner)
- Saddi Washington of course is covering for Juwan at Big Ten Basketball Media Days as he continues to recover from heart surgery.

Let him go back to the NFL, he's getting to the age where his best days as a coach are probably behind him anyway
