Wolverine Wednesday: Youssef to Bowling Green

Sports news is usually pretty slow mid-week.  That is why Mel Kiper's Mock Draft boards always show up on a Wednesday, so all the ESPN talking heads have something to discuss.   Today is no different.

The biggest Michigan news is former Wolverine Youssef Khayat has picked Bowling Green as his next destination.  He was rated the #406 overall player and 65th small forward in the portal.  Khayat played in 26 games in two years as a Wolverine averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds with an average o 6 minutes per game.

Speaking of Mel Kiper's mock draft, I keep seeing that Minnesota is expected to move up to 4 or 5 and take JJ.  Not sure I love JJ in the same division as the Lions, but happy for him going in the top 5.

Check out the Masters golf tournament this weekend, fellas. Give it a shot. Once you learn how they pair the top leaders together and the TV coverage will follow the top of the Leader Board, it really is must see TV. And if you golf, knowing all the little nuances that go into making a shot and seeing who thrives or caves under pressure is much better than watching another fake episode of the Bachelor or something. My money is on Scotty Scheffler.

I think all us Michigan fans knew J.J. would be one of the top QBs in college football. What baffles me is the lack of respect J.J. got from the local media (97.1 in particular). Crack head Stoney had J.J. as the 15th best QB at the beginning of last year. I sent in some text messages lighting him up. And all I ever heard coming out of Valenti's mouth were negative things about him, though he did pick Michigan to win it all. Rico, Gator, Caputo, and Jeff Lesson wouldn't say a positive thing about him if their lives depended on it. Oh well, we have our Natty, and they can cry me a river.

Brady, I think Valenti's angst with JJ is sample size. he just didn't have to throw it that much at Michigan. I think his take on JJ is he could an elite talent or a bust, just hard to tell based on how little he had to throw it in college. He wasn't a prolific pass like a Caleb Williams, who btw I think will end up being a diva bust! That coupled with all the hype is more than he can deal with. Even as a Michigan fan I can admit some of the hype is overboard. Never got the Jabril Peppers hype. Use to roll my eyes watching Michigan games on TV and hearing the announcers gush about Peppers when he wasn't even part of the play. The other guy was Rashan Gary. At Michigan, I thought Chase Winnovich was the far better and more consistent football player. Now is Gary the better Pro? Absolutely!

As for the other 97.1 on air talent, I never listened to Stoney, found him extremely annoying. As far as the midday show, Karsch and Gator are way to rah rah for me. I had to quit listening when Gator would not let go of Levi Onwuzurike. "We still don't know what he can contribute to the Lions!" I'm pretty sure after 3 years the answer is NOTHING Gator! Ricco is just a richard. His Michigan hate knows no bounds. Valenti actually said we had a really good football team last year. Not Ricco!

Chowman- Yes, Karsch and Anderson HAVE to be getting sponsored by the Lion organization. I think they've broken down everything possible about the Lions except what kind of underwear Dan Campbell wears.

Peppers and Gary got hyped, sure, but that's what TV is supposed to do. Gary was the number one recruit in the country coming out of H.S., so there's gonna be hype. Did they live up to it? Prob not, but they both had respectable college and pro careers.

I think a lot of media people don't actually watch teams or players, but just check their stats. That's why I bet on Michigan and win 8 out of 10 bets. I know U-M better than Vegas!

Valenti? If that dbag met Jesus Christ, he'd criticize him for having scars. Dude is pure garbage. JJ will be an All Pro. Not just because of his talent, but his drive, discipline and commitment. He'll lead a team to a super bowl. Bank it. As for Valeti, if you get some 2-ply TP, you can eventually wipe him off.

Rudy- Lol That's a good one! I agree. Lol
