Wolverine Wednesday: New OC

Sherrone hired a new OC yesterday and his name is Chip Lindsey the former OC at UNC.   I'm 50/50 on this hire because he is 50.  I like a younger lad that has fresh new ideas and can relate to the kids on the roster.   To be fair, I don't know a lot about Chip.

Here is some of his background:

1997-2009 - HS jobs in Alabama
2010: Troy QB coach
2011-2012: Back to HS in Alabama
2013: Offensive staff member at Auburn
2014-2015: Southern Miss OC/QB coach
2016: ASU OC/QB
2017-2018: Auburn OC/QB
2019-2021: Troy Head Coach
2022: UCF OC/QB
2023-2024: UNC OC/QB

None of that experience jumps out to me that Chip has been super successful anywhere he has been.  In fact, it seems programs move on from him pretty quickly.  He also has followed Gus Malzahn around who I do not consider a good football coach.  I do like that he worked under Todd Monken at Southern Miss.

If your wondering, I'm in the wait and see camp on him.  UNC at points this year has been a dumpster fire but they usually score a ton.  I don't hate this hire like I did Wink but my gut tells me Michigan could've done better.  His is known for having a 300 yard passer and a strong run game, but his teams have never won too much.  Reports are that Bryce likes him, which is good news.

  • Michigan Basketball blew a close one to Arkansas last night in the Jimmy V.
  • We are losing Pollards left and right.  Micah went to the portal earlier in the week and now Myles.
  • Michigan's MVP Zvada is coming back for another year!  Big Win!
  • Ohio lawmakers want to make planting a flag in Ohio Stadium illegal.   This is Charmin soft.

Lindsey is kinda out of left field, so I really don't know much about him. The only thing I've read is most of NC's issues this past season has been on the defensive side of the ball, not offense. In the end, this is on Sherrone. He either gets it right, or he won't be in AA for the long term. I do know they had to move fairly quickly as its portal season and they needed an OC in place to get the better portal recruits on the offensive side of the ball! Let's pray he's the right hire!

How far will this NIL go? Read an article yesterday that the college players are suing for 2.5 billion and they want agents to represent them in negotiations. AGENTS ... YIKES!!!

I've said several times in the past that if the players form union I'll just watch from the 10,000 foot view... Growing very tired of this shit.

Two thumbs up on Chip Lindsey. He worked at major SEC programs playing against SEC competition, while developing NFL level talent- Jarret Stidham and Drake May. Lindsey checks all the boxes, QB coach and mentor, former Head Coach, good recruiter, and success at every level. Offense at N.C. was 3,000 yards rushing, 3,000 yards passing, so you can't get more balanced than that. Had Top 20 offenses multiple times. Lindsey is quoted saying he likes to mold his offense around the players he has. (How many times have we discussed that). Bryce was able to talk with every candidate being interviewed and had input on who to hire. 👍 👍

If that quote is true then yes I like the hire. One thing I can't stand is when an HC/OC won't/can't adapt the offense to the players they have, i.e. Michigan this year.

Chip is so much better than anything we got. As to lil bitch Suckeyes, grow a pair! The use of lawfare against your adversary is so played! Nutt up Nutteyes! No matter how poorly people think of your program, you continue to prove to them that you're worse!
