National Signing Day Take 2

9:42: Michigan confirms Ty Haywood signing

Ty is rated as a 5-star OT to ESPN but recently dropped from a 5-star to a 4 on 24/7, Rivals, and On3.  24/7 composite ranks him the 39th player in the nation and 6th OT, with a .9773 grade.

Haywood is 6'5 and 285 pounds and has the frame to add some more good weight when he gets enrolled in Michigan's S&C program.

He was a former longtime Bama commit but had 33 big time offers, with FSU, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma leading after his decommitment.   Michigan of course was always the front runner and the reason he didn't sign with Bama in the early period.

It might be too much to ask for a true freshman to start on the offensive line next season but if he can come in, hit the S&C program, and learn the blocking schemes, he might be in the 2-deep.

Big way to wrap up the 2025 class!  Unless Sherrone surprises us with a punter commit today?

9:25:  Ty Haywood is Blue! Michigan rounds out its class with a 5 star OT.

9:04: In a bit of strange update, transfer portal update: UMass WR Anthony Simpson who committed nearly a month ago has signed with Michigan.

7:53 Update:  Michigan is waiting on one expected thing today.  It's a combination of something you might find on a farm:

He is expected to announce 9:00 EST, 8:00 Central.

In the words of Lomas Brown: "that's a big ask"..... True freshmen OL rarely come in and start. There's strong and there's grown man strong. It's really tough for an 18 yo kid to be able to handle a grown man upperclassman. Does it happen? Sure, but exceedingly rare. Maybe if he enrolled early and had the winter semester to S&C, then maybe he had a shot at the 2 deep.
