New Mexico is rebuilding with Idaho's head coach Jason Eck. Michigan is rebuilding its passing game with the #1 recruit in the nation Bryce Underwood. This game should be played at 12:00 but let's be honest we want to see Texas vs. Ohio State. I know every network wants the best game of the week, but one of those two games should be a primetime game the other shouldn't.
This game is clearly about Michigan preparing for it's trip to Oklahoma next weekend. Is there Bryce hype with the passing game? Is the run game what we expect? Is the defense dominating?
Dear Sherrone,
Your biggest mistake as a head coach last season was not having a QB that could throw a forward pass. You had some head scratching losses early but closed the season with wins over the eventual National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide. Those two wins saved the season.
This off-season you went out and got two transfer portal QB's and signed the #1 QB recruit in the nation. That is what we are talking about!
For this game, it will be about your team getting live snaps before the trip to your former school next weekend. Here is what we are looking for:
- Can Bryce revive the Michigan passing game?
- Is Michigan WR's good enough?
- Does Michigan have the best backfield in the country?
- Will Michigan's Defensive Line be dominant this season?
- Are Michigan's LB's elite?
- Can the secondary hold up?
Start answering those questions but don't put too much on tape for The Sooners to review.
You said the team is starving, that is a great sign going into the first game. If you have been around awhile, you know what could happen when our team over looks their first game opponent.
Get two RB's with 100 yards, have Bryce pass for 200 yards, and don't give up a TD to the Lobos. Play hard, catch the ball, limit mistakes, and start the year with a lopsided W.
Michigan 45 New Mexico 6

I like that score, but think it's going to be lower just with a new groups of kids on O. I'm thinking closer to 21-7
yeah, I think they are going to spoon feed Underwood. Its a big jump from HS to college for a true freshman. the key will be if the OL can open holes for the running game. It could be a long season, if the OL is sub par again this year. I'm not sold on the receiving corp either.
Once it's a two-touchdown lead then everybody will be eating vanilla ice cream the rest of the way. Oklahoma gets no good film.
