We need a new Bob Ufer

The Michigan Football program is going through some major changes this year. We have a brand new coach from "outside" the family, a new offensive systems that gets 100% away from Bo's "three yards and a cloud of dust" philosophy. The Big House is going luxury, along with some much needed improvements to the bathrooms and better access for disabled fans.

So what are some other changes need to be made? We need a guy in the radio booth that lives and dies for Michigan football just like the days of when legendary Bob Ufer held that seat. You can't walk through a Michigan tailgate area with out the sounds of Bob's voice filling the Saturday air with excitement and joy from a memory of a Michigan win long ago. We need that feeling again and we need it every Saturday during the Fall.

Times have changed and announcers have be non-partisan and call the game as it's played out. I call BS on that. I want a guy in the booth, that cries when Michigan loses a heart breaker or starts throwing chairs out the window when the MSU time keeper gives the Spartans another chance. Bob Ufer was one of a kind, his joy for Michigan football can't be matched. Or can it? See Bob wasn't a professional announcer, he was actually an Insurance Salesmen that announced Michigan football games. Maybe that's the ticket, professional announcers are now way too tight and non-partisan. Let's do an open tryout and let: auto workers, policemen, IT guys, anyone with a good speaking voice and the ability to show listener the love he or she has for Wolverine football.

If you want to get a feel for Bob in his prime, hit the right side bar for the best play ever. This is what I'm looking for. If that video doesn't give you chills then your not a true Michigan fan. In a day where we have high definition everything, Big Ten Networks, and thousands of cable channels, sports commentary has become dry and all most un-listenable. We need a new Bob Ufer to give us more moments like Wranger to Carter. We need things like this to re-polish the tradition and mystique of Michigan Football. The time is now!
