As I was researching post topics today, I ran across an article titled: Perles surprised by Mandarich's steroid use. Really George? I guess the news of Clay Aiken being gay also knocked you out of your chair last week. BTW George, if you hadn't heard Elvis past away. (does anyone else find the photo to the right to be disturbing? That is a little too close guys!)
How could he not have known? It was the most obvious thing in sports. "I'm surprised," Perles said. "He's a good person and a great guy. I'd never have anything negative to say about him or any of my players. I don't know what his motive is to come out with this now."
Let's see George, he is coming out with a freaking book in March.
Any other "smart" remarks you want to make George? "Twenty years ago, we went through with an investigation because we suspected things," Perles said. "We checked it out and there wasn't a problem. There was nothing there. "Obviously, now if he says this you've got to believe him. You've got to take him at his word. But how it slipped through the cracks at the Rose Bowl and with the NFL and him being the second draft pick, I don't know."
So you did or didn't think there was a problem? Let's see I wonder how he fooled that top staff in East Lansing? Mandarich admitted to using steroids while at MSU and that he faked a drug test before the '88 Rose Bowl against Southern Cal, according to an Associated Press story. In the Associated Press story Mandarich said he provided a fake urine sample before the Rose Bowl to avoid detection.
A blue-ribbon panel convened by MSU to investigate the allegations exonerated Perles' program of widespread steroid use.
Nice work guys! I can see your really a Blue Ribbon team! Classic Michigan State.

That pic doesn't really bother me, considering the age of those two. They gotta get close to see each others' mugs!
