I have lost the old press box. Can anyone find it? Above is a new picture from mgoblue.com on the Michigan renovations.
- Just the Facts Please, Just the Facts: Regarding the likely hood of a Georgia - Michigan opening game in 2010: "There's no truth to it," a Michigan athletic department spokesman said Thursday. Next rumor please.
- Here is a quote from the New York Times preview of Michigan's 2009 season: The potential is there for a hot start: yes, defeating the Irish, even at home, will be a tall task, but Michigan has a great shot at being 3-1 on Oct. 1. From there, there are winnable games against Delaware State and Purdue, and Iowa will not be as strong as it was a season ago. In past seasons, such a schedule would have fans dreaming of a national championship, as the Wolverines get Penn State and Ohio State at home; but this is not a title-worthy team, and expectations should fall in line with a six- or seven-win season. NYT has Michigan ranked #57 in the country. I'm hoping for 8 wins but I know that is a big jump from 3-9.
- Per the Wall Street Journal: Coach Rodriguez has a $200,000 bonus if he makes it to a BCS game. BTW: This week, a Senate panel will probe whether to restructure the college football championship system -- a move that could increase cable television contracts already worth nearly half a billion dollars. Go ESPN!!
- New Information on Ohio 2010 commit Christian Pace: He is currently enrolled in summer school so he can graduate early and get to Ann Arbor in January. Per Pace's head coach: “I had a number of college scouts tell me that might be the best senior lineman tape in the whole United States, it was that good,” Dlugosz said. “He’s a very, very physical player. He’s an individual that has tremendous footwork and he’s very agile. He loves the physical part of the game and he knows how to finish blocks.” Why did he pick Michigan? “My decision came down to three things,” Pace said. “One was my comfort level with the coaches and the overall atmosphere of the school, the second was the academics and the third was the football program and its (past) success.” Michigan plans to have Christian play center but it will all depend on how David Molk does the next couple of years. Pace currently plays Tackle in high school.
- It seems former Michigan Football player and Cincinnati Bengal Chris Perry owes a Cincinnati Suburb some back taxes. I agree with Chris that these taxes are high, but I still pay them.
