Future Michigan QB Devin Gardner is Elite

Devin Gardner is at the Elite 11 passing camp and gotten some good reviews so far: Per ESPN: "Gardner has also surprised many. His hustle, leadership and athleticism add up to a tremendous maturity that will help him compete early for playing time in Ann Arbor. Rivals: Every pointed out Gardner's impressive size at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, his athleticism and arm strength. He cited Gardner's problems throwing while rolling because that will be a big part of his college game, but liked his arm and accuracy in the pocket. Scouts: "Gardner is a superior athlete who is handcuffed a bit by a passing camp that doesn't showcase his playmaking ability with his legs. However, as one might expect, Gardner was solid in the bootleg drills, and while struggling hitting the deep-out to live receivers, Gardner picked up his game in the target practice segment, showing off better accuracy than many of his Elite 11 teammates." Many at the camp as compared Devin to former Michigan recruit Terrelle Pryor. I'm liking the report on his accuracy and working at these camps will help his overall QB skills and get him ready for his senior year and becoming a Wolverine in 2010.

• The Rivals new top 250 is out: Marvin Robinson #123, Ricardo Miller #158, and Devin Gardner #171 (way too low). I expect these to go way up before signing day. Gardner is a top 100 talent for sure. Michigan CB recruit Cullen Christian is now rated #60. Just a quick tip for the BHB readers. Un-committed recruits sell more subscriptions to the recruiting services, which means the committed recruits are boring and maybe ranked lower then they should be.

• Michigan's game at Illinois will be a 3:30 match up on ABC.

• Tony Jefferson, LB from California who was planning an official visit to Ann Arbor this Fall committed to UCLA this week.

• Looks like the Kings of the "Smurf Turf" Boise State will not be making a trip to Ann Arbor to open the 2010 season as reports have surfaced they have signed a deal to play Virgina Tech. So the mystery behind the 2010 opening opponent continues.

• Grand Rapids punter Mike Sadler recently visited Arizona State and will announce his college choice in the next two weeks. I still believe Michigan hasn't offered yet, but they might want to think about doing so real soon.
