Michigan Football News and Notes from Big 10 Media Days

Michigan plans to have an announcement regarding their new BCS 2010 opening opponent in a couple of weeks. It will be a home and away contract. The rumor mill is saying that it's most likely one of these three: Oregon State, Pitt, or Virgina. Update per the Detroit News: A Michigan official told me today those schools (above) are not candidates and suggested it's very likely the team involved will be making changes to its already existing schedule to make room for Michigan.

  • Update: Michigan is dream'n of Willie Beamen at QB! It seems actor Jamie Foxx ran into Coach Rod at a Chicago restaurant last night. Jamie Foxx also happened to be in the restaurant and spotted Rodriguez. Foxx informed the second-year Michigan coach that he has eligibility remaining, then pretended to go under center and call a play.

  • Michigan is ranked #38 by Sporting News

  • Devin Gardner was selected to the Under Armour All American game

  • Michigan offers 4 Star California CB Joshua Shaw

  • Freshman RB Fitzgerald Toussaint had a minor procedure done in the off season and will be 100% ready for fall camp. The report is it was a hernia issue.

  • Coach Rod are you worried about all the transfers and team chemistry? The team's fine," he said. "You wish everyone was doing all the right things, but some inevitably don't fit for us -- either the university profile or the team."But I'm only worried about the guys who play for us. And our players have come closer in the last five to six months than I could even hope for."
