Michigan Football: 1st Day in Pads

So the world has been "tweeting" all day on Michigan's practice. Here are some updates from everyone from Michael Rothstein from A2.com, Dave Resine from the BTN, and Tim from mgoblog. (btw: there is a practice re-cap on the BTN tonight at 10). Here is a consolidated view for you.

Hot Topics:

  • No word today on Jason Foricer or Adrian Witty
  • Tackling was good today
  • Justin Turner was not in full pads but was working on corner skills
  • Greg Mathews and Brandon Minor were in Green Jersey (non -contact)
  • Carlos Brown, Odoms, and T Rob (see below) all were dropping punts
  • Brandon Herron and Ryan Van Bergen looked good on defense
  • From Dave BTN: Tate Forcier is the PERFECT QB for the Michigan system. Good arm, very comfortable throwing on the run and good speed and scrambling ability
  • Troy Woolfolk had some good hits at Safety
  • Michael Cox and Vincent Smith were called out for looking good at RB
  • Another interesting tidbit from BTN after being at OSU and PSU practices: Again -- intersting to see difference in philosophy. I've seen more WR's working on blocking in 1st 20 mins than last 2 days combined
  • Darryl Stonum and Fitzgerald Toussaint had minor injuries today. Fitz maybe headed to a redshirt since the depth at running back is very good right now. Maybe they should try him at punt return?
