Done deal. So in the last week the media has had him as Stanford's coach, Michigan's coach, Denver's coach, Dolphins Coach, Back to Stanford's coach and now the 49ers. I'm sure he loved every minute of it. 49ers = 5 years and 5 Million a year.
So now what Mr. Brandon? Now what?
The more things change, the more they stay the same. This process has a very familar ring to it.

Harbaugh is a 49er

Bring on Brady Hoke!! Pull this trigger now. He is a HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, not just an offensive genius or successful defensive coordinator. The guy can run a team, has a staff in place to bring with him and is proven by any measure. Get over the Harbaugh blues. Harbaugh seems like a bit of a goofball anyhow (great coach though). My two cents.
I'm glad for JH. I'm very happy for UM. JH would not have been happy as a college coach. Within two years he would have gotten itchy feet and bolted to the NFL, then where would our program be? Good for him. Great for UM!
I want Miles!! Bring the Mad Hatter home!
A new coach should have been hired figuratively speaking "yesterday" because the staff would have used this quiet period to move into the area and get settled in. They could have assessed the current players and the needs of their new team, then develop a recruiting strategy to go after the players they think they need for their system.
If Brandon wanted to hire let's say a current assistant somewhere, that would mean they would have to hire a staff which takes time, and the staff would have to make preparations to come to the area which takes more time. This on top of the team's assessment of their players should have been done during the quiet period.
Now they don't have that luxury, and Michigan can't afford to simply blow off this class either. So how does this effect the strategy for David Brandon? He now needs to focus on hiring a head coach that comes with his own staff already in place. A group that can come in lock stock and barrel and get started. A coach that already knows the area well enough where he wouldn't need much of the extra time most other coaches would. He can help his staff come in and get settled. A head coach who knows the area and high school players and programs well enough where he can
"continue" recruiting the area he's already fimiliar with.
A head coach who already has an interest in being a Michigan head coach because it would be either a "step up" or a "dream job" for him so money isn't an object. A head coach where there is not a multi-million dollar buy out to come to Michigan. A head coach who would have on his own time and because of "his own interest" would have made an effort to know what type of players Michigan has and possibly reduce the in-house player evaluation time. Plus a head coach who hopefully is not a year or two away from retirement. Now, with all of that said...who are those candidates? You can name them on one hand.
...Aumm I hear that Rich Rod is available, seems everybody still wants him, since they couldn't get their "good ole boy" JH.....just saying
Seriously, you people need to calm the fuck down. I grew up in SoCal and witnessed the drama involving the hiring of Pete Carroll. Reminds me a lot of the current Michigan situation. Not even close to being a first choice, fans everywhere bitching, horrible nfl record, no recent college coaching experience, took too long (18days), recruiting class concerns, etc. Also, look at the hiring process involving OSU's Jim Tressel. How'd that turned out? Many first and second choice candidates have turned to shit for other teams.
So everyone calm down. Stop worrying about one recruiting class and support the new head coach and judge him after he gets a chance to show what he can do. I'm done.

UNCLE RON, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. you consistently post the dumbest shit on this blog.
redlightonity, you make a good point and I hope you are right. It would be great if Michigan had similar results. However, in my opinion this was the exception and not the rule. OSU already had outstanding players that simply needed to be coached. You [Cooper]don't win 111 games by having a team of 1-AA or walk-on players. That is what Michigan has right now.
Then secondly, Tressel had previous coaching ties to OSU. He coached there from 1983-85 as a very successful position coach. He understood experientially the OSU brand of football and could simply fit right in. Plus, he already had ties to the region and was already in the general area. He came from a highly successful coaching family and was a proven winner. So it really wasn't that much of a reach to hire him. The man could just flat out ...coach.
Like I said, the OSU team was already stuffed with talent, similar to when Bo came here to Michigan. Bump was a nice guy but wasn't a strong coach. So if OSU missed a few player at signing day it didn't hurt so much.
Plus, I doubt if OSU had this type of defensive "issue" that Michigan has right now. So losing a class that could help shore up your lack of talent is something that Michigan can't afford this year. Even schools like Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, et al, have over recruited so that they can maintain their status. That shows us just how important timing is.
However, you won't get an arguement out of me, I for one hope that you are right on this.
redlightonity...Your shit hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Let's see here, brand new AD at Michigan and you talk about issues from years ago, go back to your Blue Blazer meeting I'm sure they will listen.....
Voice of Reason, good talk. Recruiting is certainly important. I just want Wolverine Nation to be optimistic because of what happened with OSU, Auburn, USC, and maybe even Oregon. The pessimism expressed by their fans quickly evaporated after the results on the field. I'm just looking forward to supporting Michigan no matter what. I do worry, just trying my best not to.
As for UNCLE RON, I liked Rodriguez and hoped for a 4th year from him.I just don't lick his balls like you do. Keep saying dumb shit though. I already saw your arguments with few other commenters and I maintain that you consistent say the dumbest shit.
redlight...Your grasp of the english language just astounds me, you seem to be lacking a bit with your communication skills.
Glad to see that it's only "your" opinions that count.
So as you would say, Fuck Off....
Go Blue!!!!
I'm Done!!!!
