Michigan Thursday: The 2012 Offer Blitz Continues

This has been a snowy and cold winter for Michigan fans.   We got blown out in a bowl game, had our head coach fired in January, got a new coach, got a new high profile DC, and got a brand new 2011 recruiting class in about 2 weeks.

The cold weather and snow that has hit the Midwest and Eastern states hasn't helped either.  Well, the weather isn't the only thing that is flying around in Michigan right now.  2012 offers are flying out of Ann Arbor fast and furious.

Here are some of the guys that got their offer yesterday:

  • Cass Tech CB Terry Richardson
  • Cass Tech OLB Royce Jenkins-Stone
  • East Detroit TE Ron Thompson
  • Illinois OL Dan Voltz
  • Illinois DT Tommy Schutt (probably didn't get it yesterday)
  • Wisconsin LB Vince Biegel
  • Farmington Hills TE Devin Funchess
  • Farmington Hills DE Mario Ojemudia
  • Farmington Hills WR Aaron Burbridge
Other Names with Michigan offers:
  • IN DT Sheldon Day
  • IL DT Vincent Valentine
  • WA OL Zach Banner
  • FL TE Sean Price
  • OH TE Sam Grant
  • OH WR Dwayne Stanford
  • MO WR Dorial Green-Beckham

-2011 OL "sleeper" Graham Glasgow was in Ann Arbor on Wednesday and he was offered a Preferred Walk-On spot at Michigan.  He has the same offer from Ohio State.

-The rumor mill is spinning that 2011 CB Greg Brown who was Michigan's only early enrollee has left school and back at home in Ohio.  I can only guess this is a case of being home sick since nothing football related has even started yet, with the exception of some S&C training.  This could also explain the Terry Richardson offer yesterday who has a similar stature of Brown.

- Former Wolverine player and coach Scott Loeffler is the new OC at Temple.

- The Michigan Basketball team had another good home win last night over Northwestern.  Jordan Morgan went for 27 points.

- Sam Webb does his Thursday article on one of Michigan's top 2012 OL recruits, Jordan Diamond.

Have to love the aggressive approach and offers going out to these prospects.
Its not so much the quantity but the offers are going out to some quality prospects.
Nothing wrong with getting some early commits to set the stage and lay down the gauntlet..

Disappointed to hear Greg Brown leaving for being home sick if that is indeed the case. I hope he has some proper parental guidance to get him through this...
Hopefully he is not to harshly frowned upon by the Michigan faihful because we all know at one point we were his age once with a lot of indecision ahead of us....

I agree with you on the 2012 offers and this staff is still behind other programs with relationships with these kids by about a year. So there is some catch up to do but the focus on defense and 4 and 5 star kids is important. In this class they will have more then 2 weeks to make up some ground.

I am also sorry to hear about Greg Brown. I wondered what could have happened in about a month?

One more thing and I think this is very important and something I have noticed and not sure it is a trend...but
Just because OSU or NU or Bama or Florida offer a kid or is a "supposed" lock to a school..Michigan should offer and recruit the kid anyway. Too many times I am noticing on message boards that why bother recruiting a kid or why waste the time...there is value in at least making an effort to recruit these athletes no matter what and I hope Hoke doesn't shy away from kids just because they maybe leaning towards one school or another...
