Michigan Friday: Recruiting News and Brady Speaks

Brady Hoke spoke at the Big 10 Meetings yesterday.  He really didn't deliver any "ground breaking news".  He doesn't know if Fitz and Clark will be able to practice or either will be able to play against Alabama.   He hasn't decided yet.   An Mgoblog poster says that #28 has a locker without a name but #57 doesn't even have a locker.  Neither is a good sign for practicing and/or playing in Dallas.

Brady also said after in the hallway that he will not recruit Penn State players on the active roster.  What if a Penn State player reaches out to you?  “You know, I don’t know. You got a team chemistry you worry about and I think that is a big part of it. There is a lot of different answers. You know, things that you got to look out for.”

Big House BBQ this weekend:  2 major 2013 guys will be in the house.  Derrick Green is Michigan's only RB left on their board.   He has already been to Ann Arbor once but didn't get to sit down with Brady (who was out of town).   He will do that this weekend with his family.  Derrick cancelled his OSU visit on Friday and will be in Ann Arbor from today through Sunday.   This maybe Michigan's best shot a getting a commitment from another top ranked RB in this class.

The next 2013 prospect in town this weekend is Phoenix WR Devon Allen.  Who is a 6'1, 190 pound 4 star WR with a ton of offers.  Devon will be in town Saturday and its unclear if he will stay for the BBQ on Sunday.  This will be his first visit to Ann Arbor and a commitment is not expected.

The rest of the crew will be 2014 recruits and most of the 2013 verbal commits.  Again, this relaxed event is for kids and family members to get a chance to hang out with the coaches and fellow teammates.  Shane and Laquon will be in Disney at the Gridirons Kings.  Michigan Blog Tremendous provides us a list of attendees.  I wouldn't be surprised if one or two 2014 kids jump on board.

  • Speaking of Laquon, he got offered by LSU yesterday and now would like to take a visit down there.  I don't think his recruitment will end anytime soon.

  • Vernon Hargreaves a former FSU recruit who briefly mentioned Michigan after he de-committed has jumped on board with Florida.
