Last week it was all about MSU being the only Big Ten team "worthy" of a chance for to play in the BCS Championship game if they went un-defeated. Well, that lasted 7 days as the Spartans forget to score in East Lansing on Saturday night against ND. So who is next in line?
Ohio State is 3-0 with a win over a PAC 12 team on Saturday. Nope, can't do it. They are on probation and even dropped 4 spots in the AP after their win over Cal. They are not allowed to be ranked in the Coaches poll.
Wisconsin continues to struggle on offense and just barley beat Utah State 16-14. I wonder which staff member is getting fired this week? They aren't ranked in the AP but 24th in the Coaches.
Minnesota? The Golden Gophers are 3-0 with wins over UNLV, New Hampshire and Western Michigan. The Gophers aren't ranked in either poll after 3 solid wins against non-BCS teams. No Golden Gopher love.
Indiana was on the way to 3-0 but lost to Ball State this weekend. Shoot!
Michigan is the highest rated Big Ten team in both polls as they are 18th in the AP and 17th in the Coaches. We won't talk about the first game (at least it wasn't as bad as the Arkansas score this weekend - so we got that going for us!).
The rest of the Big Ten has struggled with Penn State getting their first win of the season on Saturday, Illinois beating a Candy Bar (Charleston Southern) 44-0, Nebraska beating a team from Arkansas that actually scored points on Saturday(they are 25 in the AP & 22 in the Coaches), Purdue put it on EMU and Iowa is continuing it's tour of the great state of Iowa by beating Northern Iowa by 11 points.
So I guess the Big Ten doesn't have anyone who should be considered BCS Championship game material right? Time Out! What about the Wildcats? Why are they not ranked!
Northwestern is 3-0 with 3 wins over BCS teams from the Big East, SEC and ACC. That can't get a sniff in the top 25 of either poll? Where is the Wildcat Hype? Which other team ranked in the top 25 has 3 BCS wins?
Ok, so the wins were over Syracuse, Vandy and BC. None of them were blow outs but a win is a win baby! This should be the lead story on ESPN.
League play can't start fast enough for beleaguered Big Ten.
