Michigan Thursday: Loving This Basketball Season

Thank you Nik and Thank you John!   We needed this after one of the most disappointing football seasons in recent memory.

The Michigan Basketball team seems to be a special unit right now.   Nik Stauskas is playing at an NBA Lottery level and similar to Trey Burke last year is bringing the Wolverines with him.     Michigan beat another top 10 team last night by playing better defense and another herculean effort from Stauskas.   He went for 26 points, 5 boards, 5 assists and one steal.    He even chipped in 3 fouls which was a minor concern.   Like the National Championship Game when Trey left the floor, Michigan is a completely different team when Nik is not in there.

Jordan Morgan played tough on the boards and even though  he had a couple of mental mistakes, he made up for them with some nice hustle plays.   GR3's shot was off but he drove the ball and made some nice athletic plays.   I really liked Spike starting at the point and think that might be the better role for him then coming off the bench.   Walton has a nice upside but I like Spike's shooting and decision making a bit better.

Michigan hits the road for a short trip to East Lansing on Saturday on ESPN Game Day.   I expect the young Wolverines will struggle in that environment as most teams do.   Either way, I love how this team is playing with heart and hustle and continues to get better as each day goes bye.

  • Michigan's Michael Schofield is doing well at the Senior Bowl.

  • Sounds like Michigan continues to be in contact with 2015 RB Mike Weber, now that Damien has jumped ship.  He was at the Iowa game last night.

  • Malik McDowell is taking an official to MSU this weekend.  He picked the Spartans over going to LSU.

Hey Mr. Bob who is Mike Weber?

Weber is a Cass Tech kid. Likely the best high school RB in the state, recruiting class of 2015.

I hope Hoke is taking notes on how this basketball team continues to improve despite their youth. They are fun to watch!
