UNLV Post Game 28-7

Michigan Wolverines running back Ty Isaac out runs
John T. Greilick, Detroit News
Well, it was what it was.   A pretty boring game by an overmatched UNLV team that is very early in their re-building cycle.   Michigan won easily as they should have, but at times they reminded all of us that Michigan hasn't accomplished anything yet either.   The running game was either great or terrible and Michigan's QB threw another INT for a total of 5 through 3 games.

There was a time and it wasn't long ago that Michigan struggled against all opponents.   So it was nice to overwhelm a team and know the ending was never in doubt, but this team still has plenty of work to do on the offensive side of the ball if they are going to compete for a Big Ten Championship.

Cheers
  • Michigan's defense wouldn't let UNLV do anything all day until the 2nd team came in. Almost pitched a shut out.
  • Hello Ty Isaac, he needs more touches - that 76 yard run was the longest since Denard was here
  • Michigan has 4 dynamic RB's if the line can get some blocks
  • Peppers in the return game, he is going to break one soon!
  • Rushed for 254 yards on the ground
  • Two Interceptions
  • A 21 point win

Jeers
  • The offensive line continues to struggle and mostly on runs in the middle of the field.
  • Smith's poor running day is a clear example of poor blocking
  • Rudock still doesn't have a clean game and threw for just 123 yards on 22 throws, with 1 pick.
  • I have been wondering where Wayne Lyons is?  He got in with the second team and got run over on a missed tackle.
  • Deep ball problems, Michigan QB's can't seem to throw them and the WR's can't see to catch them.
  • 28 points felt about 2 TD's light
  • I don't have any inside information but Derrick Green has to be on transfer watch

It's now 100% clear that Jimmy wants to redshirt Shane Morris and the only way he plays this year is if Rudock goes down with an injury.

Michigan won by 21 points and it got them to 2-1 this year.  They will have to play much better to beat BYU next week.  I know the defense will show up but what will the offense do?

Wilton threw two very nice long Balls that were inches from completions. Ruddock hasn't thrown one yet. Speight's passes were impressive.

Green is the best RB they have....he will kill it wherever he goes...he needs carries to prove himself...ge hits the hole a LOT faster tyan Smith!!!

Your comment that "Smith's poor running day is a clear example of poor blocking" is laughable. Isaac ran behind the same blocking. In addition, both Isaac and Johnson have looked much better than Smith this year when carrying the ball. Smith runs hard but he has no vision at all and lacks any burst. The only thing that makes him better than Derrick Green is that Green has perhaps the worst balance I've ever seen for a running back. I agree that Green will transfer and he needs to because he will never play here again other than mop up duties.
