Michigan Thursday: Must Wins and Injury Rumors

If you watch sports channels like ESPN you have probably heard 100 times this week that "this is a must win for Jim Harbaugh".  They are not wrong, every game is a must win in college football.  The Army game was a must win, Rutgers is a must win, everyone they play is a must win.

Sure Wisconsin is ranked in the top 15 and yes, they are a Big Ten opponent, so it does mean more.  I just don't understand the sensationalism from the media on this game.   This is a must win for Wisconsin as well, but here is how football works:  there will be a winner and there will be a loser, that we know for certain.   Also a loss to a ranked opponent shouldn't hurt Michigan's Big Ten Title chances if they take care of business the rest of the year.

Now to the injury rumors..

  • There continues to be rumors that Zach Charbonnet was either injured in the Army game or during the bye week.  If this is accurate, then Michigan would probably be looking to Christian Turner and Hassan Haskins to carry the load.   Tru Wilson I believe is still out with an injury.   The issue is not with either guys running, its with their pass protection.   Jon Jansen believes ZC will play against Wisconsin and that he didn't get his knee scoped.   I guess we will find out on Saturday.

  • Poor Taco Charlton got released by the Dallas Cowboys yesterday.  Taco had a nice pre-season but was the odd man out on the Dallas defensive line.   Dallas looked for a trade partner but couldn't find one.   Expect Taco to sign soon, I know the Giants need pass rush.

Taco was picked up by the Dolphins. I'm not sure if that's better than sitting the bench in Dallas, or not.
