Wolverine Wednesday: Caris LeVert's Story is Amazing!

Coach B pulled Caris out of the MAC and made him a star at Michigan.   At his time in Ann Arbor he lead the Wolverines to the National Championship game and became a NBA prospect.   He got drafted by the lowly Brooklyn Nets and turned himself into a star.  Last season, he basically took on the entire NBA in the Bubble as the rest of the Nets starters where either injured or opted out.   After a tough playoff series against Portland, NBA star Damien Lillard called him a "problem" for other teams.

As LeVert is now seemingly headed to the All Star Game, Kyrie, KD and now Harden joined the Nets lineup.  That means LeVert was coming off the bench early and the reason the Harden trade could even be made.    Caris ends up in Indiana and now just needs to finalize a routine physical with the Pacers Medical Team.   This was expected to be a formality as Caris felt 100% healthy and was ready to make his premier with the Pacers that night.

The team finds an issue with his kidney and the MRI confirmed a cancerous growth on his left kidney.   Caris had successful surgery yesterday to remove the growth.  “Caris is expected to make a full recovery and will be out indefinitely,” the team said, adding that no further treatment is needed for LeVert’s case of renal cell carcinoma.

A trade saved his life, which is just another amazing chapter in what seems like a blessed life.   This is a proud Michigan Man.

  • Luiji Vilain has transferred to Wake Forest.  I hope he does well and stays healthy.  He was never healthy in Ann Arbor.

  • Tennessee is trying to become Orlando, FL as they have hired UCF's AD Danny White and now Josh Heupel as head coach.  Randy Shannon will be the interim head coach at UCF.

  • A guy that was rumored in the mix for the Michigan DC job.  FAU's Jim Leavitt is heading to SMU to be their DC.

  • Speaking of former UCF coaches, Nebraska has a couple of high profile players newly in the transfer portal:  Luke McCaffrey joined his brother in the portal and Kurt Warner's son Kade who is a WR/TE is also leaving Nebraska after being named a captain last season.
