Wolverine Wednesday: Jimmy Speaks

With the restart of Spring Practice, Jim Harbaugh met with the media for the first time since the end of the season and had plenty to say.   Here is a quick recap:

  • JJ's shoulder is sore, met with experts, have a short and longer-term strategy, no surgery.  He is not throwing in practice.
  • Mazi is playing at a high level
  • Mike Morris could be the next Hutch or DO
  • Team could be scary good
  • Oluwatimi has fit in quickly, feels like he has been in the program for years
  • Excited about the new recruiting staff including Denard
  • Spring Ball will be the next 4 weeks @ 3 practices a week
  • NFL Door is closed for him
  • Bell's rehab is going well
  • Called the true freshman WR's, freak show
  • Mike Sainristil will be a 2-way player (working at CB this spring)
  • He is excited about the Pure Michigan adventure with his team
  • Rod Moore and Ja'Den McBurrows both had surgery in the off season
A couple other news and notes:
  • Michigan's new radio team will be Karsch and Jensen.  I know this is very much an honored position but wondering how many people still listen to traditional radio for Michigan games?
  • Looks like Jimmy's brother-in-law Tom Crean is going to be fired at Georgia.
  • Jimmy has hired a familiar name to his defensive staff, Rick Minter.  Rick is the former Cincy head coach and ND DC.  He also happens to be the father of Michigan's new DC.

Doug Karsch doing play by play is not going to work. He whispers and mumbles all the time during his radio show and is boring as hell. Why they hired someone with zero play by play experience is beyond me. Jansen will carry the broadcast. I probably wont listen to anything more than the tailgate pregame show.

With all due respect, I hope your prophecy doesn't come true. I like listening to football on the radio. I enjoy sitting on the patio with a beer and a cigar listening to the game. Hard to sync up with the TV. I have a neighbor that can do it, but I can't. I wasn't a big Jim Branstander fan. Frank Beckman was really good and there are a lot of other good ones out there for other teams as well. Oh well let's give him a shot and see what he can do. Just my thoughts...

I can't stand the network announcers, so I watch and listen to the radio.

Agreed to a point Blue, all the extra nuances they add to the game. It's more descriptive. They add excitement as they don't have to be terribly impartial. Just a different game, not scripted near as much...
