It seems highly likely now that Erik Bakich, Michigan's head baseball coach will accept the opening at Clemson today. Erik has been Michigan's head man since 2013 and his best year was 2019 after leading Michigan to 50 wins and a runner-up finish at the World Series. He was also named the National Coach of the Year during that magical season.
Erik started his coaching career at Clemson as an unpaid assistant and now finds himself back leading the program. We know Baseball is a bit different than other sports and that "southern" schools have a distinct advantage playing in warm weather most of the year. Bakich's Michigan salary at $400K per year is reportedly jumping to 1.2M a year at Clemson. That is a no brainer for anyone. Erik did a fine job and left Michigan's program in a much better place. I wish him nothing but the best at Clemson!
The "hot" new name to replace him is Detroit Tigers pitching coach Chris Fetter who is a former Wolverine. We could lose a coach to the Tigers and get one from the Tigers. 😀

David funches is a lion welcome home David
Isn't it interesting that there are kids at the school that can make twice as much as many coaches through NIL while we wonder why we can't keep great coaches because we won't pay them. IMHO!!!
