Michigan Monday: Gets a Waiver

Jack Tuttle was the break glass if there was an emergency.   Michigan needed a QB with playing experience if JJ somehow got hurt in Michigan's run to a National Championship.  Its seems that very thing happened but JJ played through injury against Maryland and Michigan snuck out with a win.

Jack saw a huge opportunity for him next season but was out of eligibility.   Either way he was going to stay with the program as a GA assistant or maybe the starting QB.  He got part one of his wish over the weekend as his waiver for another year got approved.

Spring Ball will start to dictate whose Michigan's starter at QB next season, but you have to assume that Jack's playing experience might give him a slight edge over Orji at the moment.   I could see a situation where multiple QB's play during the season.

  • In another move that is different from the Harbaugh days.  Sherrone hired Zach Higgenbotham as the Director of Football Sports and Science.  I have no idea what it means but it sound very cool.
  • No need to discuss the Michigan - MSU Basketball game over the weekend.
  • Michigan walk-on Jerome Nichols who got 11 snaps in 4 years has transferred to Florida A&M.
  • Roy Rountree got a new gig as the WR coach for Miami of Ohio.

Yes, I can definitely see a quarterback rotation next year...

What is it with the fixation on Orji? It has to be the name. I can't think of any other reasonable explanation. I would understand if Michigan ran an offense like any of the service academies. They rarely pass, and Orji rarely passes in a game. One (official) pass in two years. Or if Michigan did a repeat of the second half versus Penn State, yeah. What about all the "talk" coming out of Schembechler Hall about Orji being a tremendous (or words to that effect) athlete? I remember the hype coming out of Michigan a few years ago with Devin Gardner training Joe Milton over a winter. That hype crashed like a Lead Zeppelin. I am NOT comparing the young men, but the hype surrounding them. It's out of control. Orji is a glorified running back. In high school, he had a career completion percentage of 0.502.

Cormac, going to have to wait until after spring ball, but Michigan's starting QB might not even be on the roster right now. I agree with you on Orji, he's a one trick pony. Tuttle or Warren will probably be the fall if a notable QB isn't there in the portal.

All in agreement here about Orji. I like my QBs to be able to throw, and my RBs be able to run. I haven't seen Orji demonstrate any kind of ability to pass, so I'm going to have to say a hard no to that one.

If we fail at QB this coming season, that's on Sharrone for not adding someone from the portal. He's seen these guys for years and knows what they can (and can't) do.

We have Jayden Davis, but a freshman QB? The last freshman QB was Chad Henne in 2003. That's 20 years ago.

That basketball game was bad. I mean I couldn't even watch it. Sloppy play, turnovers, just ugly, ugly basketball. I love Juwan, but I think he's a victim of wanting to play the same style of play that Piston's GM Troy Weaver wants to play- Big man ball. That shit don't work in today's game unless you have bigs that play like guards. It's all about driving and shooting, and Michigan has none.

Brady,

The timing of it bit Moore in the @$$! He missed the first portal opening and we really don't know who'll be available in the next portal opportunity. Moore was busy scrambling to rebuild the entire defensive side of the coaching staff as Jimmy went coach shopping at the Ann Arbor Coaches-R-Us location. Anytime you lose your HC, its going to make things an issue as far as keeping or building a roster. You can argue MSU had an advantage as they were able to get Jonathan Smith early in the process. That allowed him to hit the portal while the pickings were good. What hurts Moore is the fact that Harbaugh and Michigan missed on the QB recruiting cycles following JJ. Between JJ and Jadyn Davis, the QB recruiting was been MEH at best and there are those that aren't completely sold on Davis.

Chowman- Spot on. Losing out on Dante Moore hurt, too.

This year's team will likely resemble the 2021 version, as in our quarterback needing to be a game manger, again heavily dependent on the smash mouth run game, and having a great defense that allows us to control the tempo and thus the clock.

Can Alex Orji progress to the point where he earns that starting quarterback position, and then lands us into the playoffs? Odds are 50/50 perhaps, but if so, Kirk Campbell wins the Broyles award running away, and what an season that would be!

I hope this is not true!

I have a friend that lives close to Bob .... without me asking, He went to Bob's house and the door was ajar and no one was home. He took it upon himself to walk around the perimeter of yard ..... and discovered want looked like a body hanging from a tree. The body had a placard on the front, and it read "Harbaugh made me do this" .... he left me in the lurch and then took most of the assistant coaches ... "GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD"

Scotty, you shouldn't joke about something like that. Let's hope and pray Bob is OK. I've missed reading his blog the last few days. This isn't like him.

Understood Brady2017 ... I admire that you said it without being insulting ... I should not have done it ...but I understand one gator is no longer hungry after a hearty meal (not frog legs)

ScottyGoggs- Thats ok bro. I think we are all wondering what's up with our fearless leader. Bob, if you are reading this, please make a post so we know you're ok. We are starting to worry about you. Hopefully you are on a beach or a golf course in Acapulco somewhere.

Bob, are you there? Starting to get worried about you... Post something so we know you're ok.

He could have lost his contract with that sports Network, and said "screw it".

Something souls be seriously wrong ... Health? {{Worst case scenario}}

Bob took a temporary sabbatical (upset with the Harbaugh issues) {{best case scenario}}

Bob had enough. Did this for years, and had enough with the changes going on at Michigan. But years ago, Bob would post early in the morning ... now his posts would be anytime of the day. all good things come to an end, could it be that BHB is history? I hope not, but Bob will lose his loyal inmates if this goes on much longer.
