It was a fun Sunday feeling like Michigan had played much better then it had all season. Yes, our team is far from perfect (aka last season) but we will take that Win everyday.
The good news (if we can believe it) is that Will Johnson is ok and could've re-entered the game. Now, I'm not 100% sure we can believe that as the Wolverines are known for not being a 100% truthful when it comes to injuries. Getting X-rays and having your parents called down to the tunnel leads me to believe we might have something a bit more serious here. Fingers crossed its minor.
Another interesting topic popped up after the game. Should've USC let Michigan score on that last drive so they would've had more time to drive for a tying field goal or a winning TD?
I can really see both sides:
Let them score: The worst you will do is tp go down 3 and you have extra time and time outs to drive the field against a tired defense. You have a good kicker and offensive minded team. Will Johnson is injured.
Play D: You are up by 4 points and Michigan is one dimensional. Everybody knows Mullins will be running at you down field. Stop him and win the game. Your QB is getting hammered by the Michigan pass rush and you just went 3 and out.
I still think you play defense and make them score. Maybe Michigan will pass on 2nd down and stop the clock?
Up Next: Minnesota
Record: 2-2
Best Win: Nevada
Worst Loss: North Carolina
Last game: Lost to Iowa at home 31-14
North Carolina just got embarrassed by Old Dominion James Madison on Saturday, it was so bad I thought Mac Brown was going to retire after it. That team beat Minnesota week 1. The Golden Gophers gave up 31 points to Iowa on Saturday for another home loss.
They get another Iowa experience Saturday at the Big House.
Pass: 217 yards per (82nd)
Rush: 117 (108th)
Score 26.5 (88th)
Give up: 12.5 (15th)
I think its funny that Minnesota fans think PJ Fleck is doing a good job. I just don't see it, yes those fans have other expectations but making a bad bowl game is not success in my book. Minnesota has USC after Michigan. The rest of the schedule includes ranked Penn State, Illinois, and an improved Rutgers team.
This game will be about Michigan improving on offense and starting to find a passing attack. It will also be about Michigan not playing down to its opponent. If those thing happen, I think the Little Brown Jug is safe.

Bob the key is Minnesota fans think PJ is doing a good job for Minnesota. That fan base doesn't have unrealistic expectations. They know who they are: a 2nd class program in the B1G. I'm not trying to be a douche about it, its just the truth. They are perfectly happy with a 7-5 or 8-4 record. Hell, 9-3 would put them over the moon. They are Northwestern with lower academics. They are Purdue.
As far as playing Minnesota, what Michigan did on Saturday will be enough to beat Minnesota. You'll continue to see the same offense, heavy run with Mullins, Edwards being the change of pace back, mix in some Orji runs and probably another 50% completion rate with less than 100 yds total passing. Again, that should be enough to be Minnesota along with suffocating D. Eventually it won't be, but think we're safe for another week.
This is the game to try 15+ passes from Orji in 1st half. If Michigan is winning, put Jayden in for 2nd half to see how he responds.
Edit: North Carolina played James Madison not Old Dominion...
Good job! Sanchez you got something right... Guys, I'm going back to Dubai. I'll be back in a couple of weeks....
Blue for life
USC is already as good as they are going to be overall; they are a "very" good team in all phases of the game. However, Michigan is still rounding into form, and with them playing against two top 10ish teams in their first four games kind of forced them to grow up quickly.
When you have an O-line that is still trying to get itself together, a running game that is doing the same thing, a new QB1 that not only has started his very first game while playing the entire game (his very first time) and yet he "still" gets a win against a top 10 team, that says a lot about the road to development that Michigan is on.
Yes, Michigan has to develop their passing game and and it does need to be fundamental, progressive, and intentional. I think that this game woke up a lot of Michigan's detractors with Michigan reclaiming their identity and now they're concerned. If we stay on track throughout the season we'll be okay. IMHO!!!
Detractors?!? You should have seen these comments last week...
Sherrone said "we could have brought Will back in if we needed him". Seems rather odd given that they were down and then they were playing the last possession. Sure seems like you needed him. The game should give Orgi a big boost of confidence going forward. Baby steps but now pound the rock against the Gophers and have Orgi throw a few as well....including a couple of bombs. Air that bad boy. How about some bubble screens to the Don? Remember when those were a staple of a UM offensive scheme? Always were great against over-aggressive defenses. Keep them honest. The Evan Link experiment should be done. Great effort but he's spending more time on his ass than his feet. Same with Giudice.
