Season Slipping Away

Who are we fooling? This team struggles in a lot of areas.  An offense that is one dimensional and a defense that can be picked apart by any competent OC.   When you add an injury report with 15 players on it, you spot the team your playing a 14 point lead, have two 4th quarter turnovers, penalties, and multiple players slipping all over the field, your not going to beat a MAC team.  Even a bad defense can stop a one dimensional offense.

Washington is an average team at best.  They lost to Rutgers and Washington State in the PAC 2.  Michigan did show some heart scoring 17 unanswered points to take a lead, but we all expected it was fools gold and it was.   Tuttle can throw and make the right reads but he has always turned the ball over.  He throws picks and fumbles and did that tonight.

As you know, I hated the Wink hire from the start.  This defense which could be elite but is average at best.  It has 3 first rounders and struggles to get stops unless they sack the QB.  The injuries for sure doesn't help but Wink gets schooled on the regular in both the NFL and now in college

Michigan last year over matched everyone with talent, scheme, and coaching.  They don't have any of those advantages this year.   The teams Michigan has been whipping for the past 3 years are back to get theirs this season.   Michigan will struggle to be bowl eligible.

Cheers:
  • Showing heart in making a comeback
  • Edwards with a nice game
  • Mason and Kenny do what they can
  • Tuttle gave the offense a spark for a quarter or two
Jeers:
  • Was it the field or cleats?  Michigan kept slipping away TD's and first downs
  • Big Ten officials are really a joke, what the hell was going on during that game?
  • What was the game plan on both sides of the ball?
  • Are these guys getting hurt in practice or the games?
  • Michigan had a 2 deep injury report
  • Sherrone is struggling and this team is a reelection of that
  • Michigan has zero viable options at QB the rest of the year.  Time to consider playing the freshman.
Michigan has to pass to run, but when they pass they turn the ball over.  Its the ultimate conundrum.

This is 100% on Sherrone for not finding a QB in the portal.  Sure, none of those guys were perfect fits but we just needed a serviceable one that could hit a 7 yard out.  This team is not well coached and it shows up on the field every Saturday.  I will trade this loss for a win last January.  But seeing the ultimate year to what were are witnessing this season, is tough to take.

In day where Bama, Mizzu, USC, and Tennessee loses.  Michigan takes one on the chin as well and a loss they will need to live with for 2 weeks until they travel to Illinois.   Michigan has to get better in every area or they are not going to stay on the field with the Oregon's, OSU's, and even Indiana's of the Big Ten.

No functioning QBs, basically no useful wide receivers, a bad OL, porous secondary, outcoached OC & DC, = a lost season barring a miracle. turnaround.

As I have said before..."turn out the lights, the party is over"

Play the frosh qb. I will rate this season a win if we don’t lose too many recruits.

So I think some fans found out why Jack Tuttle wasn't starting. Is he better than Alex Orji? Sure, but I'm sure you can find someone working at an Amazon warehouse who'd be a better QB than Orji. This season isn't slipping away, it was over before it started with Sherrone's mismanagement. Kirk Campbell is not qualified to be an OC. Not at a Michigan. Entire staff needs to go, including Moore and if there's room on the bus, take Warde with you guys!

And can we stop with the Wink Martindale is this great DC. He was a great DC. Key word: WAS! Game passes everyone by eventually and that's happened to Wink. Teams no when and where his blitzes are coming from and when they don't get home it results in big plays. Michigan's D is above average when the front 4 are getting home, but when we have to blitz, all bets are off!

Yes its time! This is going to be a dog fight to be 6-6 season anyway, so find out if the kid has anything. If not, then you'll have to hit the portal. Only difference is are you looking for a starter or a quality back up, the rest of the QB room can be flushed. Tuttle will be eligible for social security after this season. Davis Warren is done! Anybody heard from Jayden Denegal? Back of a milk carton? Orji should be shown the TE room, if he doesn't like it, he doesn't have to go home, just can't stay here!

Many folks crying for the freshman qb, but is anything really going to change with all the other issues here. Like putting a band aid on a broken leg. Unless you just want him to I get experience, it would be a waste of time... Slipping (?!?) may have cost The Don a td, or a nice long run anyway... Games don't hurt as much when your expectations are not that high...

The three Michigan quarterbacks remind me of the movie "The Three Amigo's". .... except the joke is on us!....why don't the fraternities and sororities at MICHIGAN HOMEGAMES pass out collection plates like the catholic church and dress up like nuns and altar boys and collect money so we could buy a "store bought" quarterback in the portal. They could easily collect 1 to 2 million dollars a season.

I was going to scold Chowman (and myself) for being too harsh on Michigan when we took the lead. But it turned out to be just a blip on radar. How about the crew of ESPN college gameday . They are all "gully galou birds" (they stick their heads in the sand and talk out of their butts), they all picked Michigan

Who said all the great circuses have closed down.... we have the best "clown show" in Ann Arbor. "The great pretenders" Seriously.... when ''''''the who needed a drummer they asked the crowd if anyone could play, and got a fine drummer to fill in for Keith Moon, can't we try to get one out of the stands? Why not ... a lady in her nineties might be better than the "over the hill gang" we field right now!!

17 pts against an average team isnt gonna cut it. Have to throw to keep defenses honest. There are safe routes to run besides the TE crossing. Teams scout and will eliminate this. Throw a screen. Throw a quick slant. Throw a hitch and go. Practice these routes 8 hrs a day until players get blisters. Did any WR make a catch yesterday?

It is not easy being a head coach. You have to be in the head of EVERYONE, players and coaches. They are your responsibility. You need to be obsessed with the game and think about it and analyze it 24 hrs a day. It is not for everyone, and unfortunately, it is not for Sherrone. Sherrone is an offensive line coach.

Yes, the lower expectations definitely cushioned that defeat last night. I didn't throw a single thing across the living room.

The party is still going. Unfortunately it's with the Omega Moos.

Play him in 5 games. Can still keep his redshirt then. But play him.

That Keith Moon story is 100% true. 😆 🤣

Back it the sixties, families would buy potatoes by the 20-pound bags. Ours was kept in the kitchen broom closet. EVERYONCE in awhile the closet would emit a putrid stench< then you had to find which potato went rotten> you will not believe me ..... ONE ROTTEN POTATO had Michigan 2024 on it! Kind of like the program "one step beyond"

Goblu said...

Don’t believe anyone is saying the freshmen will win, but rather give him reps to see if he’s got what it takes. Only way to find out is to play.

Not looking to save the season. That ship has sailed. I just want to see what the kids got so we know what we got to do in the portal

Wow haven't been scolded since my dad passed! Just tired of the mickey mouse shit. Act like a blue blood and not a poser

Is there anything for frustrating than being a Michigan fan. Win a natty lose, the coach that got you there and most of his staff. New coach who was supposed to continue with the Same scheme & preserve continuity hasn’t really managed the roster well. Now we have a team without a Q.B. We have D.C. that has somehow managed to teach his scheme to younger coaches better than he can coach it himself. We have a linebacker playing R.B. And thank God because our presumptive R.B.1 is the best R.B. 2 a team could ask for but not really panning out at 1. On top of all that conference realignment is probably going make us look really really bad by years end. So what happens after that, I’m glad you asked. Coach Moore gets the hot seat treatment then warde starts looking elsewhere for the next guy and who among us trusts him with that task. Not this guy. Frustrating frustrating frustrating 😖😖😖😖😖🤬🤬🤬🤬

Chowman: No disrespect intended, just seems like you and me are No.1 detractors as to where season is going .....just when I seen 17-14, I thought Michigan had some stones and next comment would have been more less an apology for being so tuff on Michigan. I am totally against paying the players, but its done and over with, so if Ohio State man handles us it's partly because they spent more money..... I am a poser, and everything else (except Buck nuts boy) As far as a die hard fan I am 10-90 die-hard, and it's getting too pro-like in college sports, and I am almost out the door, just so it does not hit me on way out. But the landscape has changed, maybe you said: If you want to run with the big dogs > get off the porch >MIchigan is paying for not getting a decent quarterback out of the portal (which is the new world. There is more to live than pro-sports, and college is gone pro. Good day!

Good post. I'm with you on close to saying "see ya". As son as the players form a union I'm probably gone. It will happen...
