This season is weighing on me, I haven't felt this way since the 2020 COVID year. I actually want this season to be over so Michigan can right the wrongs and fix this roster moving forward. I feel terrible for the great players on this team that has had to go through this season: Loveland, Edwards, Mullins, Grant, Graham, and Johnson. This season must feel like night and day after coming off a National Championship campaign just months prior. If Sherrone had done an average job, this team is 9-3 easy.
Speaking of that, I do like the 12 team playoffs concept because the Bowl Season is just a waste of time. Sherrone talks about getting to 6 wins to play more football. Why? Michigan will be a shell of themselves if they play in Nashville or wherever they end up. Those names above will not be playing, nor should they be.
How about the state of football right now? The #1 team in the nation struggles to beat Wisconsin who Iowa just put 40 on a couple weeks ago. Is Georgia in the playoffs or out? Does ND belong in the playoffs after losing to Northern Illinois then not playing anyone? I will tell you one thing, there is not a team close to Michigan 2023 right now. Its a Grand Canyon gap between the skill level and coaching of that team vs. any other team in the top 10 right now. The best person to figure out this mess is the leader of our Michigan Football program, Warde Manuel, the blind leading the blind.
IU keeps climbing the rankings and now gets a trip to Columbus. Not sure I ever remember a week before Michigan - OSU there being a better game. OSU took care of Northwestern at Wrigley on Saturday, so we take a look at the Wildcats today.
Northwestern 4-6
Best Win: @ Maryland
Worst Loss: Iowa 40-14
Pass: 178 yards (120)
Rush: 161 (121)
Score: 17 (127)
Give Up: 22 (52)
Northwestern was a great story last season and this year not so much. Michigan fans can relate. Remember when everyone wanted to hire Pat Fitzgerald? What happened? There are reports he turned down Michigan twice, 1st time after the Carr Retirement and 2nd time after RR.
This is Michigan's chance to get to 6-6 with a presumed loss in Columbus a week later. Northwestern is very limited and Michigan needs to win this game.
- Anyone else wish Jessie Minter was the head coach of Michigan right now?
- Nice to see DJ Turner and Kris Jenkins starting on SNF last night for the Bengals. I hope DJ is ok.
- Wisconsin fired its OC on Sunday. Sherrone can't fire himself, but should.
- Cade is back! After a concussion/benching the current QB starter is now out for the year with ankle injury, so it sounds like Cade will get to finish his career on the field for the final 2 games and a Bowl Game.
- Michigan plays Miami of Ohio tonight at Crisler. 6:00 with Nik Stauskas on the call for BTN. I wonder if Nik ever got a drivers license?
- Update: Don Brown Fired from UMass - I have a great idea on a replacement! Wink!

Minter's good, obviously. But, if we're using the "not a training program" standard for HC hires at Mich, then we can't say he should have been hired. I've not given up on sherrone; he deserves a couple seasons. Not getting a QB was a huge failure. I'd say if he doesn't land a starter for next season and a real QB recruit, his window as HC should close.
Go, he better be on a short leash. If he doesn't address the coaching staff and hit the portal hard then he needs to go. You know my opinion, I'm beating the Christmas rush and just moving on now. He's shown no ability to coach at this level. You got to remember its a lot easier to just put the headset on Saturday than being the man all week long. The only time Jimmy wasn't the head coach last year was for a few hours on a half dozen Saturdays! The rest of the week, Jimmy was in charge! We're seeing that there's a lot more that goes into being a head coach than game day and Moore's not up to the task!
The only thing Sherrone deserves is is a kick out the door. Complete failure.
Michigan needs to lose to Northwestern so the house cleaning can begin immediately.
Why prolong the inevitable? This staff blows.
IF I knew for sure that Warde would fire Moore for missing out on a bowl game, then I would agree with you. Just not sure Warde is awake! Has anyone heard from him? I watched about 1 1/2 qtrs of the OSU/NW game. NW is bad! If Michigan loses to NW, then yeah, Moore should be fired immediately
Rumors are swirling down in Batton Rouge that Nick Saban might replace Brian Kelly. Who knows? But at least they are smart enough to want a change, and the natives are restless. Brian Kelly was a square peg in a round hole. They say the only thing saving Kelly's job is Bryce Underwood.
Chowman- Let's hope that Warde still has some competitive juice left in him. Remember, he played here for 3 years before getting injured. He should know what bad coaching looks like.
Curt Cignetti just signed a new 7 yr deal at Indiana with a huge buyout. So I guess we can scratch him off the list of potential new coaches.
Brady, I'd take anything out of Baton Rouge with a grain of salt! That fan base is effing nuts and rumors come out of leftfield! If Saban wanted to still coach, why would he of left Tuscaloosa. He was a God down there. Look I thought Brian Kelly was a weird hire. I personally don't like the guy, think he's a bit of con man. Never been as good of coach as people thought. He's got 9 lives when it comes to coaching. Just about the time the ND fan base was ready to move on he's have a 10-2 11-1 season and save his ass!
The Curt Cignetti story line is the coaching story of the year, but lightening rarely strikes twice. I think he was in the right place at the right time. Lets see how his team fairs against OSU on Saturday. I won't be surprised if its a blow out for OSU. Indiana's strength of schedule is been pretty weak! My other concern with him is he's 63. I know he doesn't look like it, think he goes to the same salon Ryan Day goes too. Not sure what's more ridiculous: Ryan Day's beard or Curt Cignetti's hair! Just a touch of grey would be more believable.
NOOOOOOOOOOO BOB NOOOOOOOOOO! No Don Brown. Is Wink Martindale Don Brown 2.0 or would Don Brown be Wink 2.0? We agree Wink needs to go, but there's got to be an up and coming coach from the Baltimore tree that we can hire. Do I think Wink can still be a good DC? When he wants to be! That's the problem, I think he's in AA to collect a pay check, nothing more. Sure when he gets criticism, he come out and coach his ass off, only to go back to Mr. IDGAF! Reminds me of Javy Baez in that regard. It's motivational not ability.
Chowman- You're right, that fresh out of the salon look is not good. That's strike one. Strike two is his strength of schedule. Strike three is coming in Columbus Saturday.
I'd still take Meyer as our next coach. Just give him a Michigan bath, clean off the slime a little bit. Take a few pics of him at church and helping an old lady cross the street and boom, we've got another Championship.
Ring ring...Don Brown "Hello?" Sherrone "Hey, you busy next year?" Don Brown "No, I just got fired again". Sherrone "You want to be my defensive coordinator?" Don Brown "Ok".
Brady, why go backwards. the issue with Don Brown is he was predictable. The advantage he had was on most Saturdays, he had the superior athletes so his defense could play bully ball. But when we played an OSU, they took us to the woodchipper! Wink's not much different. What Jesse and Mike did very well was give you 1 look pre-snap and then do something different post snap. I think Wink has gotten lazy. I don't think he wants to tailor his game plans to who he plays. He wants to run a 1 plan fits all type of scheme. So when he gets criticized, he watches the video and adjusts his scheme. But don't be surprised if his D plan is vanilla against NW. Not because he doesn't want to show anything for OSU, he just don't want to put in the work
Ya, Kelly has 9 lives. I guess the atmosphere is just as bad at LSU as it is here. LSU just had an embarrassing loss to Florida and Kelly and got into an ugly looking argument with a WR on TV. It's enough to make Underwood think twice, to say the least.
Brady here's the problem I have with recycled coaches. They have a shelve life. If they've been out of the game for too long, they go stale! Football is a game that is constantly evolving, innovating! Sometimes, guys that have spent too many years in the studio, the game passes them buy. Unkle Urby was going stale at OSU, his offense was circa 1990s. he had to go with Ryan Day bring the OSU offense to the new millennium. And remember Meyer got out before NIL and TP. Not sure he could be successful in today's landscape. He's the kind of coach that likes to chew players asses, and now those guys will just hit the portal.
Oh, i wouldn't hire Don Brown in a million years! But Sherrone would. Lol
Yes, i know what you mean. Coaches with a lot of tenure usually have their game plans on film, so it's easy to predict what they're going to do. Don Brown lived and died playing man coverage and got lit up like a Christmas tree. Please see my comment above regarding hiring Brown again. NOT a fan of that.
Minter being our head coach wouldn't have many an difference....NO QB....what we need is a very good OC...lets go get it....
Blue for life
Hell...I will just be glad when this season is over. Period
Why Thom...explain more in details...
Blue for life
ok, I'm your Huckleberry! I'll disagree with you. The defense would of been better. Jesse Minter would of probably kept the defensive play calling duties, and if he didn't would of had a lot of input into the game plan. Like I've said, Wink approaches as a 1 plan fits all.
and a good chance Moore is your OC, so that's 2 coaching positions that would be better!
Just the incompetence of the coaching. Nothing changes from game to game. Same old, same old. Afraid to try anything different. Just run up the middle time after time.
What about Tom Herman for OC? He was just fired as head coach at FAU. He's not meant to be a head coach....just like Sherone isn't. But Herman has a long history of top 10 offenses. Go snag him.
