Enter your "a year to late" jokes. Michigan had two quarterbacks in Ann Arbor this weekend with an opportunity to start for one year and give up a some snaps to Bryce, as the plan is going to be Cade/JJ when JJ was a freshman.
I don't know if Michigan picked him or he picked Michigan but Mikey Keene former UCF and Fresno State QB is heading to Ann Arbor next season. Mikey has played a ton of college football and even played the Wolverines this season.
He has taken significant snaps at QB since 2021 and is a pretty accurate passer with a 70% completion rate. The issue is he throws a ton of interceptions, 11 this year, 10 in 2023, and 6 in 2021 (just 1 in 2022).
Against Michigan Mikey was 22-36 for 235 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTS, and sacked 3 times. He had a 46.8 QBR for the game.
This is how I am thinking about it my head.
Positive - He is an accurate passer
Positive - He knows Chip's system so the learning curve should not be steep
Positive - He has a ton of playing experience
Negative - He throws a ton of picks
Negative - He is not very tall for a QB
Negative - He is not a runner
I hope he can get on campus soon as getting him coached up on removing those turnovers will be very important. Let's be honest, having another Mikey on the roster can't be a bad thing! 😀
Now can Michigan get some Justice to join him in the backfield?
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

It's why of the 2 I preferred Finn. Both had very similar stats in yards, TD and INTs. What stood out to me was Finn was more mobile. I can't say I know a ton about Keene, but typically, shorter QBs need to get outside of the pocket to make clean throws. Now maybe he can do that, that remains to be seen.
