Michigan has been filling up the skill positions fast while they continue to wait to fill their two biggest needs on the offensive line and at defensive end. Last night they received their first verbal commit on the offensive line from Michael Schofield of Orland Park (Ill.) Sandburg. Michael weighs in at 276 pounds and is 6 feet 7 inches tall.
He choose Michigan over ND, Miami, Oregon, and most Big Ten Schools. Scout ranks him the #47 tackle in the country and providing only three stars; Rivals says #18 with 4 stars.
This from VB: Player Notes: Schofield is a tall, nimble lineman. He has very good height (listed anywhere between 6-5 and 6-7) and will likely end up as a tackle in college, though it remains to be seen if he has the skill set to protect the quarterback's blind side.
Side Notes: Michael is a hurdler on his high school track team and throws the discus. He sounds very athletic for a big man!
